Silver Bear 9mm HP

Anyone tried the 9mm Silver Bear JHP 145gr w/nickel plated case? I'm thinking about picking some up at J&G this weekend. I shoot white box Win, but this looks interesting.

Any feedback?

It seems to work okay in my pistols.

Note however, that it's not nickel-plated brass, it's a steel case, not reloadable. It's not really cost-competitive in my area.

I certainly hope I'm not talking out of my ass, but I thought I read somewhere that steel cased ammo is a no-no in open bolt smg's? Just a heads up, fwiw...

What you are thinking of is CCI Blazer aluminum cased ammo, which is a big NO-NO in open bolts. Silver Bear is zinc plated and runs good in my Vector (although I only run .45 Silver Bear, I load my own 9's).

I think it's *aluminum* cased ammo (like Blazer) that's bad in open bolt guns. Wolf ammo is steel-cased, and many people report it working well in their UZIs.

bought 1000 for $105.00 this weekend hollow pts,silver bear 145gr.very quiet works great much cleaner than wolf brand.only shot 300 so far but not one problem.I was getting federal 147gr these are better for the money ,I will be getting more.ps vector full size w/coastal can &buffer.

CCI themself doesn't recommend using their Blazer aluminum cased ammo in open blot guns.

roarincreek...Regarding cleaner than Wolf...which about any ammo is cleaner then Wolf :) How does it compare to WWB ammo as far as fouling? You think better?

Actually... it's borderline... but usually supersonic out of a 10" bbl... depending on temperature & elevation!

I bought some a while back, the dealer said it was sonic but not by much, my M16 9mm will not run it, it's runs fine in my pistols however. Would like to see it run in my Uzi when the rnasfer comes thru.
