The lady at widener's said it is Australian Hirtenberger, mfg 1991 and they have never stocked it before.
Any opinions?
Sound like it might be scary, have heard of bad lots in surplus markets etc... .
Also carries a warning subgun only do not use in regular 9mm weapons.

I have fired approx 3000 rds through my Mini with without any ill effects.
It was produced for the British Ministry of Defense from 1990 through 1992 for use in submachine guns "under adverse conditions" and carries the "L7A1" designation. The ammunition was loaded to produce pressures far in excess of that intended for use in handguns.
IIRC, "under adverse conditions" meant sub-zero temperatures.
Headstamped as follows;
12 o’clock position: HP
3 o’clock position: 90, 91, or 92
6 o’clock position: L7A1
9 o’clock position: a cross within a circle

It is Austrian (not Austrailian) military NATO surplus Hirtenberger 9mm+P+, one of if not the best 9mm ammo produced in the world......the best ammunition you can get for an Uzi or other heavy bolt subgun of durable construction.
It is 124gr bullet weight FMJ and has a muzzle velocity of 1500+fps and is NOT FOR USE in regular 9mm pistols or rifles that cannot take the higher pressures. CHECK WITH THE GUN'S MFGR.
The stuff shoots flat at 100 yds from an Uzi and almost flat from a pistol.
Ruger pistols can take it,(I've shot lots of it through them) and have heard the Browning High Powers can also but would never use it in a Glock or any other.
If you want accurate hot subgun ammo this is the stuff to buy.
I'm completely astonished that they still have it in stock. I bought the last of what ammunitionstore.com had a few months ago.
I think they are the last dealer in the country to be selling it right now and who knows when or if there will be any more with today's volatile world situation.
This is THE stuff to put away for a "Rainy Day".

Order as much as you can afford and then some. It won't be around forever and you'll wish you bought more if you intend to shoot it periodically at the range.
I kept the majority of what I bought for future use and I use more readily available stuff like Wolf or Winchester value pack stuff or reloads for the range.

I got 2 cases for now.
I just paid for my uzi and my bride is already asking, didn't you just spend a pile of money on gun stuff?
The no such thing as to many guns or too much ammo line has to be used infrequently to minimize eye rolling from spouse.
The investment line isn't holding water since she knows I'll never sell a gun.
Any ideas?

Yah, I tried the investment line for a while. My girlfriend told me to cut the crap, that she knew that I would never sell any of my guns.
This is actually good news, because it means she won't bother to ask me to ever sell any.;)

Been there....and did it anyway!.
Yes I may never sell them, but my wife is fully aware of how quickly and how much they are rising in value. The eyerolling stopped here as soon as I showed her what the guns were worth 3 months after I bought them. Got a big smile when I showed her again after 1 yr. Now she forbids me to sell them. She even chastised me for not buying more of them the first time around when they were $800 cheaper. I guess if she's going to be aggrivated with me, it couldn't be over a better subject.
I bought a butt-load of that stuff from J&G Sales a year or so ago. They had it real cheap. I had to buy several thousand rounds to get the postage down to a reasonable amount (they're in AZ, I'm in VA). Its good ammo, for an uzi. I don't use it in my Mac though.
Frankly, at almost 12.5 cents a round, plus shipping, its not a very good deal though. I can't tell a huge amount of difference between it and Winchester ammo from Wal Mart.
If you don't mind Russian 9mm ammo (I think its just fine), here's a hell of a deal on Barnaul http://www.ammunitionstore.com (look under the specials logo). At 7.5 cents per round, its pretty hard to beat. I got 2400 rounds of this delivered to my door for $206. Shot 600 rounds in my uzi and mac a couple weeks ago without a single jam.

Received my ammo and shot a couple hundred rounds this morning in my fs uzi.
Seems to cycle faster and recoil slightly more.
It's not a great deal but I am please with the purchase as an ammo stash for the gun.
Higher velocity am good.
Thanks for the info on the el cheapo ammo, as most of you know I have had my new baby fs fa vector for a few weeks and I am finding it is quite hungry for ammo.
I love this thing!!!:heavy
Yeah, I thought my Vector full size ate ammo quick. Then I added a Mac M11/9 to the collection. Jesus, does that thing fling the lead. I stuck a macjack in it and got the rate of fire up to around 2000. It looks like there is a big sparkler sticking out the barrel when you shoot it. The target looked like it was hit by a giant shotgun. And then I found someone selling 50-round mags. Oh man, it goes fast. Not the most accurate weapon in the world, but loads of fun.
Cheap ammo is good. Try the Barnaul, you'll like it. Especially at 7.5 cents a round.

For not to hijack but...
"Browning High Powers can also but would never use it in a Glock or any other."
At my work in Finnish Def Forces all Hi-powers i´ve seen eating steady diet of subgun ammo - broke slides.
Also Walther p-88 didn´t last - frame broke.
Glocks - 26´s 19´s 17´s ALL ARE FINE.
15 years of shooting / firearms there
Walther broke at 10.000 rounds.
Think that Hi-powers broke the same round count. At lower count broke some "locking pins" in frame.
Just observations (and a Glock owner... :))

Especially at 7.5 cents a round.
Guys, I reload 9mm at 5.6 cents a round, and .45s at 6.8 cents per round. The Dillon 650 was the best piece of equipment I ever bought. It lets me shoot way more than I could afford even buying in bulk. It paid itself off in about 1300 rounds of .45 ACP. I can load about 500-600 in an hour (including case prep and primer tube filling).
I can load the ammo as hot as I like, and I know that it's always made to my exacting standards.
Buying ammo in bulk is just not cost effective for me anymore, unless I want more brass.

So, what type of load are you running for your 45?
I dusted off my 550 after a few years of abstinence and am ready to get back to it. Just wondering about a good starting point for 45.
Have plenty of brass waiting for me. Just need so load formulas, especially for the Uzi and Macs.
Thanks

I don't put reloads through my FA Vector. I'm not interested in making a $5000.00 mistake. Even though I've never, ever, ever, loaded so much as 1 single squib or doublecharge since I've loaded ammo, it's not a chance I'm willing to take. If you are, more power to ya, it's just not for me.
