I just got an AR mag that has an AK style floorplate. Has anybody seen one before? The body, floorplate and follower are steel.

Sounds like a FNC Mag, is it steel?

The follower is right. But the floorplate is different. I left it at my shop. I will post a pic on Monday. It is all steel.

That looks just like it but the sides of the floorplate extend past the body of the mag on both sides. Just like an AK mag. The part that extends past the body runs the full length of the floorplate.

I'm betting (guessing) that's an FNC mag - just an older or newer one than most of us have seen. The lines on the mag body and the overlapped seam (in the front) match.

This mag was included with my M16(614). It does not hold the bolt open with the mag empty. Do the FNC mags do the same thing? The gun came from a well known dealer. I cant imagine he would give me a $100 mag by mistake. But I guess it is possible.

Answer yes

I cant imagine he would give me a $100 mag by mistake.

Actually the real world price on factory FNC mags is about $45.00

Well whatever it is worth it was free to me so I guess I did ok.

I'd say so. I'd trade an AR mag for a FNC mag any day.

Tim,
What you have is a AK5 magazine. Current value is about 65.00.
