i finally took my hesse galil clone to the range today after having it for more than a year and a half and was pleasantly surprised when it worked. i wanted to fire 2-3 hundred rounds but the range i was at only allows 3 in a mag at a time, what PC BS, and i got tired of loading 3 rds, shooting, loading 3 rds shooting so i ended up only shooting 40 but the rifle functioned flawlessly.

i knew i was taking a chance purchasing hesse but i've always wanted a galil but couldn't afford one and i got the hesse for a reasonable price. this certainly is not an endorsement for hesse/vulcan products but i wanted to let you guys know mine worked.

First, welcome aboard wellcraft, and second, glad to hear the rifle works well.

Any chance you could post some pics?

Also, do you know which parts are american?

Did you get an AR or an ARM?

I am a great fan of the Galil. I have a couple originals, and was hoping to find a good clone as well.

Don’t do it kid jest don’t do it no one aver told you that hesse well not work its QC that’s the problem in 1000rnd you gun well brake because the company dose not give shit about quality that’s why the change the name. the only exemption to rule is thy AK receiver it most of time is ok but other then that don’t get anything that hesse because you cannot resale them and the well bake after 1000 rounds if you like to get real Galil go her http://rapidfire.targetweb.net/cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi/agora.cgi?cart_id=117907.20924*Zs3us2&p_id=01944&xm=on&ppinc=big yes the price is hire but don’t forget to tings #1 its quality IMI gun #2 you have chance of resealing it later no one well purchase Hesse for more then 100 dollars because of its rep

$1,700 is a lot steepper then $1,200. I also dont like the finish on ORF's Galil... looks very plastic/air-softish.

Look we all like deferent tings but that’s not point. You get what you like and that cool with all of us but am WARNING you very strongly agents hesse or volcanarms (same gun deferent names 2 throw of costumers) you well hate it after a moth of shooting it. it cannot be resold and wares out faster then any other ak the QC is none existent and it well need repairs after 1000 or so rounds plz don’t get that POS don’t take my word for it call any any C2 that dose not sell them and ask do thy sages hesse thy well all tell you as one NO it’s a POS and its horrible if you see run like hell (only ak receiver is ok and that’s sometimes) if you like 2 waste money I sages a give it to red cross 9/11 relief fund because as crazy as it sounds it well be less of waste their then purchasing hesse weapon (for exemption of ak receiver )

I'm not buying either, both are to expensive for my blood. If anything I will just make a "Galil Clone" from an Ak.
Change the sights, fore-grip, folding but stock.. save 1000 bucks, good enough for me.

Akman, that ORF model looks nice. I have a couple original IMI's, but would love to have another. I'll be looking forward to seeing one of those when they hit the market.

Thanks for the link. :)

I'm new to GALILs, so what's the difference between an AR and an ARM? Caliber?

ARM has folding bipod and carry handle, AR does not. Both calibers are designated AR and ARM.

Well, I ordered a kit from SOG and got a folding bipod and carry handle, so looks like I got an ARM kit. Nice to know these things. Thanks.

Who is doing your build, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm having Vern Smith, aka Meeper, do the build for me. I'm not sure if you've heard of him, but he's kind of a legend over on falfiles.com for some of the different caliber conversions, including quick-change caliber conversions for the FAL that he's done for some of the members over there. He's doing the build and refinish for me...he's a great smith, and his work is typically priced below other smiths, so it's a good deal IMHO. I'm having him ship it to me on 9/15 so I can have the folder and flash hider. Can't wait...

What is Meeper's phone # or web site ? What is the cost to do a build and finish ? What State is he in ?

FAL, if you get your rifle built, I would be extremely interested in seeing some pics. Also what does Vern charge to assemble and finish ? I want the Galil but want to do it inexpensively, not $ 1700.
