That's pretty much the story. Sterling wasn't in the Sten business so there's a fairly straight line between the Lanchester and the Sterling/Pachett guns. However, that timeline pretty much reflects the order in which they served.
Some people don't understand why anyone would want an old gun like the Lanchester with all it's idiosyncrasies. I'm just the opposite. I look at it and think of all the history. Was it in battle? Who carried it? When was it made? Did it take a life? Did it save one?
There's something about holding a piece of history in your hands that makes it so much more than metal and wood.
Wonderful specimen. Congratulations!

My dealer has one lying around. Sitting right next to it is an MP28. After comparing them, I would prefer the Lanchester. It is a little longer and I like the brass. I haven't seen it in action yet, but sometime soon I hope.

I fondled a Lanchester at a gunshow this past weekend. Nice gun. $6,800 I think.
