thanks tim,
It looks like a gun only a Liberal mother will love im not sure the original designer would agree with the pump thing.

True, what I'd do for an original Galil, unfortunately where I live that will only ever be a dream, and the Vektor H5 is about as good as it gets. Believe it or not the H5 actually has three (3) holes through the receiver...if you know what I mean :-)

Vektor also made a "straight pull" bolt action for the UK market

select fire> I think DSA or cdnn has one for sale at around 600-700 USD.
To think that the UZi was once legal there.
Thanks again tim.

I am interested in knowing more about one of the straight pull bolt actions. It probably wouldn't take too many parts to turn one them back into a semi auto.
Where are these for sale? I have looked everywhere I know to look and can't find it.
Here is a pic of the Norinco Hunter I turned into a 7.62x39 "Galil"

Darin,
Would you please post or email details on how you converted that over? That is a beautiful gun and I would like to do something similar...one of these days at least!

Dawg,
Thanks for the compliment!
I started with a Norinco Hunter and a South African R5 parts kit. I bought a few demilled rear ends from Galils, complete with the IDF crest. I cut the barrel down to 11" so the original gas port is at the threads of the muzzle break. I turned the barrel down on the lathe to accept the front sight base. I drilled two small holes in the front of the receiver and below the barrel. I drove roll pins into the holes and drilled two matching holes in the rear forearm hanger so the hanger would have something to hang on as the Norinco barrel did not have the shoulder that Galil barrels have.
I sent the Hunter receiver and Galil rear receiver chunk to Troy Sellars of In-Range to cut the Norinco receiver rear and attach the Galil section. He did an excellent job and the IDF crest looks perfect.
When I got the receiver back from Troy at Knob Creek last month, I aluminum oxide blasted it and parkerized it. I am going to Duracoat the appropriate parts to match the paint scheme of a Israeli Galil so. I have begun to use DuraCoat in addition to using powdercoating and molycoating and I am VERY impressed with it.
Please let me know if you have any specific questions. The hardest part is finding good Galil parts. I stumbled on to this set at a gun show.
Thanks,
Darin

Here is a Galil copy made from a Vektor H5 pump action, the guy who built it is in Europe, as for the "straight pull" bolt action Vektors, I don't believe they entered the US, they certainly didn't make into Australia, so if you are searching for one, I'd try gun shops in the UK or Europe
The Galil conversion is the best thing that ever happened to that Chinese AK. However, I hope you got that 11" barrelled demon registered as an SBR or a Post Sample MG if it's FA. You dont want the ATF taking that pretty thing away.

Vmon,
It's registered as an SBR. It would be a shame to go to show much work and expense only to have it taken away and end up in the pokey.

Auctionarms.com auction number 6349589 has a pump VEKTOR for sale. It would be relatively simple to add a galil gas block, piston, and a new top cover.
But, please note how many holes have been drilled through the receiver. Not a problem for a pump action, but can't imagine it being allowed on a semi-auto.
