Just got back from my dealer's shop and the Sterling looks great. I am planning on taking the day off tommorow and going to the range all day. I will have photos and a full range report tommorow evening.

Took the new Thomas Akin DLO Sterling out to the range today; ran 700 rounds through it without even a hiccup! After blasting a few rounds and several mag dumps we ran it through our steel course against a SW 76 and boy is this Sterling going to be a sweet SMG competition gun! I can't wait to take it to the Creek this spring. After adjusting the front sight a bit it seems to be dead on! I am also planning on mounting a Dr. Optics sight on the gun when I can get the right mount. I will keep you all posted in the coming weeks as I hit the range again.

Congrats!! What type of ammo were you running?
I knew you would like it! Are you well stocked with accessories? The Aussie mag pouches are my latest accy and would be a very good item to have for competetive shooting. The pockets are reinforced with metal tabs that give the cloth some structure and prevent the mags from gripping the pouch while keeping them seporated and organized. Good luck mounting the optics. I have tried a few different methods and am not satisfied with any so far.

drw,
What have tried in the way of mounts? I have seen a couple Dr. Optics mount photos on this forum that look great, but can't seem to get my hands on one. What's the scoop with mounting optics on the Sterling?
My attempts to mount optics to the Sterling have been to mount a rail to the perforated end of the tube, using the holes to align and provide attachment points, without damaging the finish and allow removal of the barrel without dismounting the sight. I have become frustrated and have put this on a back burner. This will be a good winter project.
Board member Tactical Firearms Academy has a mount design that I like very well which I will trying next, followed by an idea that will use a tube within the shroud to support a sight.
