Well, it's not another UZI, but I just had to have this one. I looked at it at a local shop a few weeks ago and just couldn't get it off my mind. It's a Ruger AC 556/ Mini 14 in 223. It's stainless with the old bird cage flash supressor and it has a factory folding stock with a pistol grip. This one has the three position selector switch..FA, SA and 3 round bursts. I couldn't think of anything better to do a rainy day......

Cheap compared to some, but this baby still put one heck of a big dent in the old wallet....

Cool! I have the full length carbon steel version. Watch that gas block. It gets very hot. PMI mags work great if you don't want to put down the big bucks on Ruger mags. Enjoy!

I have an AC556K in transfer right now myself . It came with two mags, a 40rd PMI and a factory 30, I had the opportunity to shoot it this past Sunday and it ran flawlessly with either mag.
Very cool little gun.
And.... It was more than a grand less than my Vector Mini. :D

treedawg-
Congrats on the new toy !! I used to have one in semi-auto. The closest I could get to your new one. What a nice shootin' gun and reliable as the day is long.:heavy :D

Can you get these in stainless with the 13" barrel?
Basically what are the various factory configurations available for this gun?

Yes, there is a stainless 'K' gun.

As far as I know thay are available as an AC556 (18.5" barrel) with full or folding stock, or as an AC556K (13" barrel) with folding stock. Both are made in either Stainless or Blued steel and come with a four position selector switch.

Osprey is correct. Mine is the AC556K. It's stainless with the folding stock and the 13" barrel. I'm starting to wonder if I might have acted a little hasty on this one. I spoke with a friend that told me that they were noting more than junk, but he also feels the same way when it comes to my Uzi. I know my Uzi is a quality weapon, but I'm unsure about the Ruger. Any thoughts on the Ruger???

Hey treedawg,
Ask your friend if he can send HIS machine gun back to the FACTORY for service or just a 'tune-up'. :D
You won't be sorry you bought the Ruger.

Here's the funny part of the story...my friend DOESN'T even live in a calss III friendly state. He could be a little jealous, but I can't say that for a fact, so I won't. :-)

BTW, Osprey, do you know what the factory charges for a general "tune up" ?
