I need some info on replacing the recoil buffer on a M-11 that I recently sold. I told the purchaser that the buffer was bad when he bought it and that I would replace it while he was waiting on his NFA transfer. There can't be that much to it, but I would like a little info reguarding the process prior to tearing into the gun.
Thanks,

I do not have my semi sitting here, but I beleive you just push out the ejector rod (1/8 dia dowel looking piece), and if I remember, remove the clip on the end of the spring assembly. I do not think it is anything special, just remove the upper, bolt, and recoil rod/ejector/buffer. I think Craig sells buffers, along with RPB (probably closer for you), ET Cetera, Cobray.

I made a post on the Cobra board, but I didn't get much help with this matter. I hadn't even considered RPB until now, but I think they might be my best bet because I only live 20 miles or so from Avondale which is where they are located. I removed the upper a while back and it looked fairly simple but it din't work out that way. I'm sure that there's a trick to it that I'm not aware of, but hopefully somebody at RPB will be able to help me.
Thanks,

I'm home, took upper off my semi... the rod-spring is captured to the bolt. I would have to compress the bolt to the buffer, exposing the rod at the front, then use a pair of "grips" and padding to not mar the rod to hold bolt-recoil spring compressed,, then remove the tiny as can be roll pin.
Possibly a deprime pin from a RCBS die may suffice to aid driving the roll pin out. Try a small RCBS pin. Maybe get a few spare pins, and just grip the original to remove it, then install new pin.
EDIT: Because I spell poorly sometimes.

I spoke with Harvey at Cobray and he told me that their recoil buffer were designed for easy installation. He told me to remove the upper and then pull out the ejector rod and slide the new buffer in place without removing the bolt spring assembly. I hope it's that easy. I have one on order and will let y'all know when it gets here.

Dawg, I have not received any new. Your last posting in the forums, my box was still clean. Maybe hit the wrong button to send? Anything is possible. My PM at bottom of board list says "0" new, but has 2 that I cannot seem to find. I think those are from Chris Humphries, from before the board redesign back late Dec/early Jan.

Pulled the upper again tonight and I can't see any way to replace the beffer W/O removing the bolt assembly. I found the VERY tiny roll pin that holds the bolt assembly together and I don't even want to consider removing it. If I were lucky enough to remove it all the luck in the world wouldn't help me replace it.
UZI SBR AWC, I'll send you another PM

The new recoil buffer arrived from Cobray today and the part was $10.00 shipping included. The part was simple to install and came with instruction. You do not have to remove the bolt assembly with the Cobray part!!! That made me a happy camper.....
