Greetings!

I'm new here, so be lenient on me if I screw up the terminology!

My dad retired out of the country, and I ended up with his .45 Micro Uzi pistol. He and I are trying to decide whether to sell it or not, and we're not really sure what it is worth - I'm hoping you guys can help me out!

It is semi-auto, not full. I have the original blue plastic box. It has two magazines, one much longer than the other. It also has a really nice custom made, flip-open "shadow box", which we have mounted on the wall :D

Let me know what you might need to know, and I'll provide the info. I can also provide some pics, if needed.

Thanks,
Lee

Hi Lee. Welcome to the group.

Of course our first recommendation is to keep it! No sense selling a good UZI.

One thing to help you avoid any confusion is the proper name. The semi auto is a pistol and is called the UZI Pistol. The Micro UZI is the full auto version so it's best not to say Micro UZI Pistol or people will be confused.

A like new in original box UZI Pistol is worth something in the $900-$1100 range. It would normally come with one 20 round magazine. Any attitional accessories would bump up the price to some degree but you always get more if you sell the accessories separately.

Dave,

Thanks for the correction. I knew I'd mis-speak on something!

My dad left quite a few cool toys in my care, when he left. He spent a bit more money getting settled than he had planned on, however, and we are evaluating which toys to sell and which to keep. The micr...err....Uzi Pistol looks REALLY cool, hanging on my library wall (I LOVE the looks on people's faces, when they see if for the first time!), but it looks like it should sell for about what my dad is needing for now.

I've got some other deals pending, too, so I may not have to sell it.

thanks again,
Lee

Lee if you do decide to sell it you may want to post it to the Non NFA trading post (http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=45) here on uzitalk so it finds a good home.
:D

Newbie question: "NFA" is for "full-auto", "non-NFA" is "semi-auto"?

thanks!

Lee,

The acronym NFA stands for National Firearms Act. The phrase "National Firearms Act weapons" is customarily understood to refer to several types of weapons, as in the case of the Micro Uzi, a weapon capable of fully automatic fire (MG). Other NFA category weapons are Short Barrelled Rifles/Shotguns, Suppressors, Any Other Weapon (AOWs) - a misleading term to the layperson, as well as Large Bore and Explosive Destructive Devices, LBDD and EXPDD in that order. These weapons may also be referred to as Title 2 weapons.

From Bardwell's FAQ available at http://www.titleii.com/BardwellOLD/nfa_faq.txt :

There are two kinds of firearms under U.S. (federal) law, title
1 firearms and title 2. Title 1 firearms are long guns (rifles and
shotguns), handguns, silencer, and firearm frames or receivers.
Most NFA weapons are also title 1 firearms. Title 2 weapons are
NFA weapons. Title 2 of the 1968 Gun Control Act is the National
Firearms Act (codified at 26 U.S.C. sec. 5801 et seq.), hence NFA.
Title 1 is generally called the Gun Control Act, (18 U.S.C. sec.
921 et seq.). NFA weapons are also sometimes called class 3
weapons, because a class 3 SOT (see below) is needed to deal in NFA
weapons.

Gotcha! The education is much appreciated. I was vaguely familiar with the "Class 3", but "NFA" was new to me. If I had just posted the pistol for sale, I am certain I would have put it in the WRONG forum!

thanks once more,
Lee

Looks cool, but it feels a little like it's in jail.

LOL!!

If it makes everyone feel better, the case is split around the perimeter, and hinges open for quick & easy access :D
