Hi
I'm considering my first UZI and I'm poking around to try and decide what I want. My knowledge of UZIs very fundamental and limited at that. I intend to do a lot of reading and will certainly ask a buch of uninformed "newbie" questions. I didn't want you to wonder where this 'Tard came from, when I start asking questions.
I'm leaning towards UZI pistols. However, I think the minis are more affordable. I'd really like to do F/A but that's a BIG chunk of change for the poor boy.

Hey, are you over at the 1911 forum? I think I have seen your handle before.

az gunner, welcome to UZI Talk.
Are you going to the SAR show the weekend of Dec 3rd? Many of us will be there. Just look for people wearing the UZI Talk shirts and start asking us questions. We're meeting at the Vector Arms table at 11:00 AM on Saturday. We can show you some UZI options first hand there.
Until then, just start asking questions.

Roger that, I will be there. I usually go on Sunday, but I may actually go all 3 days this year. I'll need to drag the kid out of bed to get there at a decent time. Teens, argh.

I am on a few other boards, 1911 isn't one of them though. I use the handle on ther boards. I most frequent the AR15 site, so yeah, that's me.
Now I'll start pickin' your brains for info...
Pistol UZI - Is it available NFA and NON NFA? General price range?
Micro UZI - pistol frame with a stock and 16" barrel?
Mini UZI A/B- carbine?
Are there other civilian models?

Not sure exactly what you're asking, but here's a shot at some answers.
UZI Pistol is a semi-auto pistol only, so it's non-NFA. Price arount $1100 for NIB
Micro UZI is a full auto NFA gun.
Model A & B are the full size UZI semi-auto. Mini UZI is the mid-sized gun. What is your question about them??

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
I'm trying to determine what models are out there.
I want to know which ones are available in both F/A and semi VS semi only.
I would like to get a general price range so I don't pay 2k for a used gun, that is available for 1k NIB.
I'm also tring to "feel" if I can afford a F/A, as that's what I REALLY want.
Motorcycle or F/A UZI
OR
Less expensive motorcycle and semi UZI
Go full board, one way or the other.
OR
Compromise a little and get both.
If I go full board on one or the other, that's it for a looooong time, before I can even think about getting the other.

In terms of value, the choice is obvious. The FA UZI will appreciate and the motorcycle will depreciate.
In terms of fun factor, only you can determine with is better. Most will agree that the fun factor of a FA UZI is way higher than the fun factor of a semi-auto.
If you can't give up either and need to compromise, get a full size semi-auto Vector UZI. Best $600 you'll ever spend.

I agree....The auto will go up in value the bike down....
Just some info....All the guns you mentioned are usually available in semi or full auto...
The pistol is semi...but in full auto it is called a Micro Uzi...The main difference is the full auto has a stock. Both have short barrels.
The Mini Uzi is available as a semi, with a 16" barrel, or as a full auto with the short barrel.
There is also a full size Uzi, available in semi with a 16" barrel or full auto with the short barrel.
Look at the top of the page and click into the reference library for pics...

All I got to say is the guy I bought my full size uzi registered bolt from sold it to me to get a motorcycle. About 10 months later he started begging me to sell the bolt back to him. Now here he is seven years later, talking about how one of his only regrets in life was selling his registered uzi bolt. You see, that motorcycle he sold at a loss after he got bored with it, and he has even twice since then gone out and replaced the motorcycle with new ones that he picked up for good prices, each time again selling the bike after getting bored. No real loss in the long run. But that uzi, well he simply cant afford to replace it now.

Monetarily and logically, it makes sense to get any UZI. TheF/A will only appreciate. The semis are not likely to depreciate . The guns have always been a solid investment.
Here's the deal. I come from a family of "riders" H/D to ricers. I sold mine to buy guns. I don't regret buying the guns, but do miss riding. Plus, my family (and their bikes) are in another state, so I can't borrow theirs for a fix.
The fact that guns hold their value and often aprreciate, whereas bikes don't (a few exceptions), has kept me from buying a bike for about 5 years. I have used this logic over the years to hold off on the bike, and buy guns. However, with that midset, I will never buy a bike.
Buying with bike will save me a lot on gas money. That would eventually equate to more gun money. So the bike is an indirect gun investment, right?
The S.A.R. show is here next weekend, so now's the time.
However, winter is also the time to get the best deals on bikes.
I need a better job, fast. :(

I always seem to have a little grease on my hands......Bought my first bike from a garage sale couple years ago...$75 for a beater 100 without a tank....Got it running & learned to ride. You got to see a guy like me on that bike...Little over a year ago picked up another beater for $100. Yami XJ750. Got it running and learned to ride a bigger bike. All those guys at work driving those 10-15k bikes....Someday I will park mine right out front....Sunfaded tank...and never been washed!!!! I should sell it and clean the garage....Think it has only been out of the garage couple times this year....
Nice to know if I wreck it or blow the engine...I can leave it sit...

Go with your heart. Many guys I work with have bikes and they live and die by them. Do what you want and not what everyone else wants you to do. I am a certified gunaholic, I accept that, but just like bike riding, not often you get a perfect day, but when you do, it's worth it. ;)
