Well, I took the Uzi out today and loaded the 40 rounder up all the way for the first time.

For those who haven't check the FAQ, these mags are not originally designed for the Uzi, in fact they were designed for an Argentine SMG from what I know- I will double check my resource book when I have a chance. The magazine stops are located about 1" lower than the standard Uzi mag (more on this later) and there are two witness holes on the left side- one with a "10" stamped under it and one waaay down with a "40" stamped under it. The finish is a black paint taht has worn away a bit near the mag catch notch from about a dozen insertions.

I broke out my loader tool and started putting rounds in. After about 25 rounds were in it the bottom round would rattle around a little, and apparently the 40 round witness hole is stamped a little high as I layed out and inserted 40 rounds but all you could only see the follower, not the bottom round.

The magazine is pretty "hefty" when fully loaded, but I proceeded to insert it with no problems. after I got it all the way in it still had not quite caught so I gave it a slap and the mag catch engaged. On the first attempt I pulled down to verify it was engaged and not over inserted.

Well, 40 rounds later my paper bad guy had 30 holes in the center of mass and 10 in the head with no malfunctions. Let me just say that with a semi the 40 rounder seems endless! I finally pulled the trigger and only heard a "click," but realized I was out of ammo, not that there had been a feed malfunction!

I tried another full mag and no problems. In my personal Vector Semi I have to give a bit of a slap to guarantee engagement, but I do that with all mags anyhow. I did not need to pull down to prevent overinsertion from what I found.

On a final note, not only does the 40 rounder give a "GI JOE Snake Eyes" look to the Uzi, I also found that the extra weight in the grip seemed to help the weapon balance a bit better and not be so nose heavy, at least for me.

So in summary, I find the mag works fine (although the paint may wear off in time) and I plan on picking up one or two more, especially so I can share them with a 9mm AR upper.

Thanks for the report. Good to hear that they worked okay for you.

Over-insertion shouldn't be much of a problem with a closed bolt gun, which all semi-auto UZI's have. The main problem comes when someone uses them with an open bolt full auto. If the bolt is open when they insert the mag, they can be over-inserted. With a closed bolt UZI, the bolt will usually stop the magazine from being inserted too far.
