HI GUYS,
I'M NEW HERE BUT HAVE HAD MY STERLING FOR ABOUT 6 YEARS AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD/WOULD MACHINE A NEW ENDCAP/BAYONET MOUNT,THREADED 1/2 X36 CONCENTRIC.
MY GUN WAS BUILT PRIOR TO 1986 AND THE CAP IS REMOVABLE.
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME,HOPE ALL IS WELL.

Welcome BMGDAVE! JoeBlack is your man! Yours must be a PAWS conversion? Many of us have struggled with a way to safely attatch suppressors to the MK4. Some pictures of your endcap would be appreciated.

There is a thread on suppressing the Sterling HERE (http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6213&perpage=20&pagenumber=1). There are some photos of a modified endcap with a threaded barrel.

THANKS FOR POINTING ME IN A DIRECTION. MY GUN STARTED LIFE AS A MK6 AND WAS CONVERTED TO A MK4 BY "THE DAVID COMPANY"IN TEXAS, IT IS A STERLING TUBE,SO I JUST NEED A NEW ENDCAP.
I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY DID IT BUT THE MUZZLE OF THE GUN LOOKS JUST LIKE A MK 4 BUT THE ENDCAP IS REMOVABLE.IN FACT,IT CRACKED IN HALF AND I LOST ONE HALF. SO NEEDING A NEW ONE, THAT"S HOW I CAME UP W/ THE IDEA.
HOPE ALL IS WELL.
DAVE

The bayonet endcap was a part available for the MK6 from Sterling. Unfortunately, the material was so thin on the outer edge of the bolt holes, most of them cracked. I know of no source for a replacement part. You may have to have a machinist fabricate the part. If you do, I know of at least two people who would like one as well (cheaper in numbers?).

In the interim, if your endcap is not functional, you can use a thin washer the diameter of the inside of the end of the gun. Drill out two holes in the washer for the two bolt holes.

If you just use the bolts without a washer, it will work, but it will make an indent on the inside of the lip at the end of the tube.

I too thought of the "bolt on threaded endcap" as you show in your diagram. The danger is that if the endcap opening and the barrel are not EXACTLY concentric, you could have a baffle strike in your suppressor - NOT GOOD! The BEST way to ensure a suppressor is concentric with the barrel is to screw it on directly to the barrel, hence the threaded barrel extension as shown in the other referenced thread.

BGS (Better Gun Shop) developed a bolt on end cap that fits over the boyonet lug, but I have not seen any reports of this item actually working. This was also discussed in the other referenced thread.

I AM ASSUMING THAT YOU CAN USE A PIECE OF APPROPRIATE DIAMETER AND LENGTH DRILL ROD TO ENSURE THE ADAPTER IS CONCENTRIC.
THE BARREL THE GUN CAME WITH WAS INTERNALLY THREADED FOR A BLANK ADAPTER,SO, I GUESS I HAVE SOME OPTIONS AND DO HAVE OTHER IDEAS.
I NEED A MACHINIST WHO IS ALSO A GUN GUY AND WON'T HAVE MY GUN FOR 5 MONTHS. I SENT AN E-MAIL TO M60JOE(?) EARLIER SO MAYBE HE CAN HELP OR A BUNCH OF US CAN DRIVE UP TO HIS PLACE ONE DAY.
I TYPE TOO SLOW AND AM GETTING A HEADACHE,HOPE ALL IS WELL.

With your end cap off, is the thru hole in the barrel support one diameter or is it stepped? I think we all wish our guns were like yours. Way easier to make a adapter.....

Putting your gun in a lathe (protecting the finish of course) and measuring the run out of the barrel to the barrel support face will tell everything we want to know. If the face is perpendicular to the barrel bore we will be fine. If the face of the support is off, I can make a adapter that will angle correctly to the run out and locate on a turned portion of the barrel.

HEY JOHN,
WHEN THE ENDCAP BROKE(it's probably closer to 3 years ago) A BUDDY WELDED IT AND IT BROKE AGAIN SO I JUST LEFT IT OFF.SO ABOUT A YEAR AGO I HAD A SUPPRESSOR MOUNT IDEA BUT NEVER FOLLOVED UP WITH IT.
THANKS ANYWAY,BUT I THINK THIS CAN MOUNT IDEA IS PRETTY NEAT,I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE W/ JOE(NICE GUY) AND HE SAID HE CAN DO IT.
I'VE DONE BUSINESS W/ PAUL IN THE PAST AND HE IS DEFINITELY ON THE "GOOD GUY LIST".
UNTIL TODAY I DIDN'T KNOW THE ENDCAP WAS NOT REMOVABLE,SO I NOW KNOW EVERYONE'S DILEMA.
HOPE ALL IS WEL, HAVE A NICE DAY,DO NOT STAND BEHIND LAUNCHER WHILE ROCKET IS BEING FIRED.
