Can i register my New complete GI receiver into a 40S&W Model 40. With the marking " MODEL 40 40S&W" stamp in place of 9mm.
how do i stamp it?

It is my understanding that if you are making a carbine (16" barrel and an overall length of 26") for your own personall use and not for resale, you can mark it anything you please...if you want to sell it, or say build one for a neighbor, it will need letters 3/16" high, .005" deep and include the name of the person or Class II manufacturer, city, state, serial number.
As always consult BATF before any build!

Markings have to be at least 1/16" tall and .003 deep.This is according to the atf website.

I think he's referring to remarking an already registered receiver and not one he welded together himself. As long as you don't alter the manufacturer's info or serial number I don't think there's an issue with having the caliber info altered.

This is a uzi build with the Norinco parts you supplied..:D and a 40 barrel from BarrelXchange.
Yes Im want to weld over the 9mm/45acp/22 on the Gi receivers and restamp 40S&W
Just wanted to be differnt. I think Troy will be happy...

Why not modify the markings so you have 9mm/40/45acp/22 ? That would be cool too and then you're not deleting any info. Just weld over the existing 9mm and engrave at the front of the remaining marks.
