As I keep reminding everyone, :D this is not a commercial venture. I would however like to see membership in this board become a benefit to everyone. Now I'll get to the point...
:soapbox I've contacted many vendors about discounts and such for UZI Talk members. Most don't even bother to reply. As a matter of fact, none of the big commercial names in the UZI world seem interested in us at all. They are however interested in our $$$.
I'm asking that if you place any order (for UZI-related items or ammo), by phone/fax/internet, you mention that you heard about them at uzitalk.com. My hope is that if they hear the name enough, they'll start paying attention to us and perhaps even cater to the UZI community in a more open manner.
Then, maybe, possibly, hopefully, I can get somewhere with group buys and such.
Thoughts?

That's a great idea and there's no reason that it shouldn't work. Even if the discount is as small as free shipping that would be something.

I don't expect them to offer anything when you mention the board (at least not initially), but hopefully if they hear the name "uzitalk.com" enough, they'll come to us with some deals for the members.

My suggestion is if you want the known names to reconize UZItalk, each and every time anyone buys from a vendor to make sure they record it before you get off the phone with them. Alot of them already support other websites and they will have a space for putting UZItalk.
Anyone who uses UZItalks resources and wants this fine website to continue for many years to come, should always mention UZItalks name. It will take time as the website is growing, time does fly on the internet.
Main thing Cookie and his staff, have that will help is knowledgable Moderators and ones that are mature will give UZItalk the integrity it needs. But every website will be tested at one time or another and how you handle the problems will reflect what the big name companies are looking for. Companies will be willing to advertise after the newness has worn off.

I'm most interested in them taking a small active role (posting, answering questions, etc.) and maybe giving guys here a break on prices or running an occasional sale for us.
A little advertising would be nice, but I'd rather not become like some of the other boards that are tied to a particular dealer. The freedom, as we have it, is nice.

Understanding from where you see it cookie but I don't think some of them are tied down to any company. I think it is a mutual benefit Just my .02

Most aren't, but I know of at least two gun boards that are tied directly to vendors - though it's not stated publically. One of the admins "confessed" this to me, and highly recommended that I remain "user supported". I think he made a very good case for it, though I had planned to all along.
I'm not against selling banner space (which I give away freely now), but I don't want to be limited in the opinions I can express or recommendations I can make (due to financial obligations).
Thanks.

I have already mentioned to many people on other boards that this is THE SOURCE for info and data on the UZI system, have had many personal e-mails on this sight and what it's all about.
Like it's been said before.."if you build it, they will come"...and so will the vendors. My last 4 orders to vendors UziTalk was mentioned; i.e. TAPCO, Ammoman.com, Centerfiresystems, and Bushmaster. They will know our name before too long and take notice, word travels fast on the net, have faith.
God bless our troops. Mark.:angel3
