Discussion relating to the Tavor and the Galil /Valmet firearms families.
Several years ago I started to look for information on building a South African R-4 and R-5 clone. I found most of the information scattered and hard to find. This forum was a great help in finding the information I was looking for and the parts I needed. I have been meaning to post a consolidated...
For starters, I believe we have a bunch of Members with a wealth full of info and picture to share.
jmikesteen, emerz, YOG, jetskrtal , jyuzamas, and others; please if you folk can contribute to build a Galil Library it would really help the Galil community. With the Century Kits hitting the...
I'm sure someone here has a good list to start a Galil "sticky" on parts and accessories suppliers like the one in the Sterling forum. Is there enough info or interest.
If you have an ORF or century galil or have assembled a working rifle on an ORF receiver and have tried to snap an Orlite mag in place you have discovered that it simply cant happen due to a couple of dimensional problems with the ORF receiver. A std steel mag will snap right in but the orlite wont...
I've put up a mirror of the old page with Galil model info . . .

A number of people have asked about AK bolt carriers in the Galils. Here are pics of 2 of my 3 Galils that have them. They are AK47 stainless carriers. The top rifle is a 7.62, the lower is 5.56 which is also shown with top cover off.
Impressive! Took my shitty Blackthrone Galil SAR kit, which I pretty much was useless and he turned it into this gem.
This is built on a CNC warrior reciever. Has a Midwest AK optic rail mounted. Not pictured is the other dust cover. Permanently welded flash hidder to get me the 16+ inches...
So there was a post on a Galil on Gun broker that was maybe faked. I am looking at an AR over there right now and need someone to school me up on the markings. The fake post has me spooked. Dose this look legit and what do you think it should sell for?
I would like to add a red dot sight to my new to me SAR
Can you recommend available options or if any member has one for sale, I would be interested
Any Colombianos on here that might be able to hook a hermano up?
I read a couple articles that someday we should start seeing the Galil Ace in 5.56 but utilizing AR15 mags. Just an idea that I'm having about an ACE & wondering if it would be feasible so you could use original Galil mags as AK & Galil mags will interchange into the mag well.
Scanning the Galil listings today 3/16/17 I see there's a Galatz up for sale. Not sure how to attach the posting to this thread. Figured there might be someone interested here.
I am looking for 2. Please let me know what you have and a price.

Anyone help me out I don't mine condition as long as they arnt cracked
Spotted this gem on Gunbroker. Looks like someone took an ORF kit-build gun and remarked it with Action Arms markings to pass it off as a pre-ban. They even messed with the serial number it looks like by adding AAL in front.
It should be obvious to anyone here since the model number in addition...
Just so I can get this straight, doesn't .223 Galil Ace take standard AR-15 mags? I see Numrich is advertising 25-round .223 Galil magazines that look like original .223 Gail AR mags. Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance for help on this topic. I am new to this forum. I recently came across a Galil model 392 (no "S") chambered in 223. It looks exactly like an ARM (wood forearm, bipod, same size barrel and same muzzle break). However, the serial number is not in line with an ARM. Serial number...
I contacted the seller and he told me that the receiver is an ORF product...
I then asked him who built the rifle. Of course, he said it was Jeff. On further probing, I learned that there was no HBF marking on the rifle...
Sounds like a non-starter to me. Anyone feel differently?
Talk about a nice rifle guns bad:
Built from a parts kit from Numrich.
AWO receiver that i engraved and cut the lighting cut on the right side.
The Barrel was a new U.S. made the i cut down to 14.7 and pinned and welded the flash hider on.
The kit was pretty wore so it took the easy way out and went for a battlefield pick up...
Well, to be totally honest, I did have "a little" help from Cris Butler, at AK-USA, with the barrel installation, and Jeff Miller, with the receiver prep.
So I thought I would be happy with an AR. No. I thought I'd be happy with a couple AKs. No. I thought I'd be happy with a Yugo M72. Nope. I thought I'd be happy with a...you get it.
I'm now searching for a Galil ARM kit. I know 24hourtactical has them. I'd like to find the carry handle...
