No, looking for a HUB (1.375-24) direct thread mount for 7/8-9 barrel threads.do you mean a mount to go from the 7/8-9 to say a 1/2x28?
I’m hoping to find something off-the-shelf if possible, but if not, I live close to Shaw and can have Joe Jones make something up for me. The inquiry mostly relates to wanting to have my MK9 recored and maintain compatibility with my M10/45.Mike Prewitt who on a few of the FB pages seems like he will make just about any adapter out there if you can find a way to connect with him. He is on the mac and cheese fb page
7/8-9 to .578-28No, looking for a HUB (1.375-24) direct thread mount for 7/8-9 barrel threads.
I asked for this when ordering a PS upper and they said no problem, which was cool, since then they’ve added it as a standard option on their site, for which I choose to take credit whether it has anything to do with reality or not. 😂I double threaded my barrel. Has the original pipe thread and I made a shoulder that threads down the 5/8-24 to give my can a shoulder then I can use a 5/8-24 direct thread.
A 7/8-9 shouldn't be difficult with a lathe that will do 9TPI.
Barrels and uppers are cheap. Leave the OEM alone and get something modern is the general advice.Back when I owned a MAC I had my barrel 3 lugged and used the Bixler 3 lug mount which is rock solid. Like others mentioned, I would be concerned with a can unscrewing with the coarse MAC threads. I don't like holding the can myself to prevent loosening.
Today, I would just turn the barrel down for a 3 lug and remove the coarse threads like I did a long time ago as I have no use for the coarse threads. If I did want the coarse threads, I would do as others suggested and have it threaded in the front and use a 3 lug adapter in the front and have a smooth thread protector when I want to go back to the classic look.
To expand on that. I would probably have a classic look upper and then another upper with a dedicated 3 lug.
So does GSL https://otbfirearms.com/gsl-technology-mac-380-9-45-suppressor-gemtech-viper/ in the design that used to be made by Gemtech. I’ve got a Gemtech one and was able to reach out to GSL and (eventually) acquire a few extra locking collars for different uppers.Bower still makes mac can's.
