Update on this project: Halcyon should have it completed in the next few days. His idea was to mill a slightly longer hammer axis pin that will connect to the sear axis pin with a low profile link to create an anti-walk/rotation solution.

Thanks Paco. The plastic buffer plate is smooth. On my original metal plate/rod the roll pin at the end of the guide rod is sheared down so it barely holds in place. Seems like an easy fix?
