Magazine Conversion - AR15 to Galil

    Hello everyone.

This is my first post, so I apologize if this was discussed already...

I read on a website somewhere that there are conversion kits that allow ar15 magazines to be modified to work for the Galil. I can't find the website anymore, but it mentioned that IMI had these magazine conversion kits.

Does anyone out there know if there exists any such ar15/galil magazine conversion kits?

Many thanks for your time and help.

    Welcome to the forum.
The magazine adapter's used to be very plentiful, but with the Century Golani's arrival, they have went way up in price.
Here's a pic of the adapter installed in a Galil AR.

How do you like that UTG rail? I have one on my SBR AK and despite the low price, it has been solid. The Galil one has me tempted.

    jetskrtal,
does that allow you to remove the top cover without much of a hassle?

When I first installed it,I had to loosen it back up to get the top cover on.It's only 6 allen head screws,so it's not nothing major.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll be sure to email Magnolia State Armory and check with them.

yeah jetskrtal, that is definitely one sweet Galil. The SureFire TacLight & Laser vertical grip has been on my wish list for a while.

    Thanks guys.

Yes we are currently putting out the Saiga/Galil adapter for the AK platform. Currently we have a little over 100 left for order out of the first run. After which time there will be a price increase, currently they are $117 shipped till the first run is gone. Future pricing will be announced in the coming weeks.

The UA adapter would not fit mine either. When I had TeenGalil work on my rifle he opened up the mag well, fits nice and tight now.

The trick is to fit the rifle to the adapter-not the adapter to the rifle.
I have yet to see an adapter out of spec.
All the steps have been covered here on UZI before with pics.
The front corner radius need clearing and usually the bottom of the feedramp.
The main problem with ORF/Century rec. is the mag. stand is too far forward.
A nice sharp endmill or a dremel and a lot of time and usually .030-.050 off both sides and you are good to fit the only part of the adapter i recommend-the rear lug.
The only down side is that once cleared the metal mags. will be a little lose from side to side but should still function like they did before as you haven't changed the points of contact.

Welcome to the site--- check GB, as these pop up for sale from time to time!!!
While more expensive as AR magazines, the surplus, 35-rounders are going for about $40.00-$50.00.

The MSA adapter looks very nice and I sent payment for one. I have quite a few .223 caliber AKs and several Golanis, so will post some feedback here and elsewhere on how the adapter works out. I may be able to check fit on more than one receiver type across these platforms. I also sent them a FAL mag to use in working on the .308 conversion. Nathan has some neat projects going on that should really help out a lot of Galil and AK owners.
