    Question galil magazines

    Hi, fellas!
Ive got a SAR (5.56), just like the one i served with, 'xept it's an export version, and i love it!
I only have one question: how do i mode AK47 or any other 7.62X39 drum magazine to fit my 5.56 Galil? Is it even posible?
I also have some friends in TDI, so if anyone is interested in their equipment,- i think i can get a discount for you
Thats my SAR with modified LHV lower handguard, the grip, the cheek pad and a flashlight in 5 position mount

Are you from Israel or South Africa? I did my stint in the SADF, but it was before the R4 was introduced.

Very nice rifle you have there!

    Thanks!
    I'm from Israel.
I can get me an AK47 75 rounder for like 130$, but i need to be sure that i'll be able to convert it to 5.56 without any modifications to my Galil.
Oh, and if someone is interested, i have a FAB six rail aluminum hand-guard for the "Micro", or as we call it - "MicroGal" (Hebrew for micro-wave) , for sale.

The way the Chinese drum is made I seriously doubt you being to be able to cost effectively convert one from 7.62 to .223. I have not dealt with the Romanian drums of the different design. They may be made in such a way that the conversion is possible, I do not know.
The drum will fit and snap in without modifications though.

Thanks, but i'm talking about the Russian drum mag (its the only one i can realy get here, maybe, just maybe, i'll have a chance to get me a Chinese drum).
Is it possible just to change the follower and modify the lips, or maybe, just to weld the top of Galil mag to the drum?

Here when we want to put a drum on a Galil; we use an AR15/M16 magazine adapter and a 100 round Beta C drum.

Norinco also made drums for the AR that look like the AK drums. Maybe you can find one of these.

I thought Norinco or Polytech also made drums for their 223 AK's, someone else might be able to confirm.

Nice rifle by the way! How about some more pics?

The chinese did make one in 223 . I think it would be a major effort to try and convert a 7.62 x 39 drum.

    that's Russian mag..
mark the insert on the left side, i think it may be modified to fit 5.56.
theres also ABAKAN 60 round quad stack magazines, will they fit? thay are made for AN-98, which, for it's part, made on the 74 reciever and takes 74 mags (5.45). May i fit that in my galil?

Yea, those are just like the Old Romanian ones. Like I said, without totally reworking that drum, it is not going to feed .223. These drums only feed from one side and they do not use a traditional follower or springs.

What about the ABAKAN magazine? Can i fit that?
It seems the same as 74 magazine only wider and it's 5.45 caliber.
