I fondled it almost a year ago. Unlike the SCA upper, it's a nice bit of kit huh?!Originally Posted by Jmacken37

The reweld went smooth tonight. The new mixing ramp is %100. It alternates the rounds perfectly.
I loaded 140 rounds stripped them by hand 2x. It still was not perfect but there were no jams in the tower. The first 20 + rounds stripped hesitated to pop up. I will go to Home Depot tonight and look at zip ties to line the inside of the drums. It's the last part of the puzzle before live fire testing.
Good luck with it. I'm curious about how many rounds need to be ejected before it takes off. With mine, it seemed to need to kick out 15-20 before it would run well. Even if you need to strip 20-30 rounds, you'll have custom made 110-120 round drum!Originally Posted by strobro32

medphys,
I just figured out what you meant by sore thumb.I actually have been using my index finger to strip the rounds out as the drum is lying face up on the ground. I've now stripped about 500 rounds tonight with my index finger and it is sore!
greenpeas,
I'm glad you are going to try it. I think I'll get a couple more drums and try the single drum conversion too. If I can get one or two working, I wonder if anyone might buy it so I can recoup the cost of the project?
I volunteered to build one for another member if I get mine running. He is supplying the magazine and drum. I think once I work the bugs out, it should be much less labor intensive to assemble one. Hopefully...![]()

I'm gonna start doing some curls to hold up my future 20lb uzi....
How about an M16 9mm double drum? I'm told those M16 guys have all the $.![]()
Having the buyer supply the mag would be the only way to do it. With all the mag related problems, systems and variables, they would have to use the most reliable mag they had.
And be aware that still may not run 100% when complete, especially in a non slow-fire gun.Originally Posted by strobro32

I got the zip ties glued in.
I'm still having the first 20+ rounds hesitate to the feed lips. The rounds seem to feed fast it the drum is laying down but hesitate when the drum is vertical. I hope to test tonight.
OK. Where do we get my membership cards?

I don't want to be a tease but testing will be tomorrow night. My new indoor range has abbreviated hours due to their FFL not arriving on time. They shut down 2 hours early.
Good news.I cranked the springs up to 4 turns and all the rounds pop up quick. I had 2- %100 hand stripping sessions while the drum was vertical.
I hope I can give VegasSMG his wish.Originally Posted by Vegas SMG
Here's a few more pictures before tonight's test.
These show the drums loaded with 19 dummy rounds, 2 training rounds and the 142 live rounds.
I used two rows of heavy duty zip ties inside the drums. The ties are made by Commercial Electric product #296 220. They come in a 10 pack and are 36" long.
I also included the pattern I made. There are many compound angles. If it works, I'll try to post them.
Is it time for bets?

Did you think about winding the right drum (from the shooter's perspective) an additional turn? I wonder if it would help them get around that U-turn.
Prediction:
If you feed it, it will run.

Well, I'm the biggest tease in the world. The range closed 4 hours early tonight so I didn't get to test. There's always tomorrow.
medphys, I did throw an extra wind on both drums. That brings the count to 4 revolutions per spring.
How are the the other drums coming?
Mine is finally back together. I ran out of time tonight, I had dance classOriginally Posted by strobro32
