    STEN vs Stemple

I'm posting this in the SW76/Stemple board, too.

Currently, I have a Reising, which is my first machinegun. I've been kicking around the idea of selling it and buying an affordable, non MAC, 9mm subgun. I have quite a bit of experience with STEN's already, but the Stemple looks interesting, too. Now for the questions.

One bonus for the STEN is that I already have 30+ mags for it. Are Ste magmples available and affordable?

Something I find interesting about the Stemple is that you can configure it several different ways.

I know this is a STEN board, so opinions may be bias, but given the choice between the two, which would you recommend?

What is that? Model, make, availability?

    Looks interesting...

It has a sten rear end and a suomi front end with a purpose built hybrid receiver. Being open bolt giuns thay can not be exported to the US.

    Here's another variation.

    Oh that looks like fun.

Looks like it should be easy enough to modify a registered sten tube to do that project.

I'm no expert but I thought the ATF didn't allow moving the magwell on a Sten. Otherwise folks could make Swedish K's with them.

The part that is newly manufactured is the receiver. It's 1 1/2" longer than a standard suomi receiver to allow the sten sear to be positioned in the correct place. ( same place as a standard suomi ) The MkIII sten trigger housing has had a section removed in order to reduce the diameter to suit the narrower suomi diameter tube. The bolt is a suomi bolt that has had a hole drilled for the sten cocking handle, and the return spring is sten.

Anyone who can build a suomi and a sten from parts kits can build one of these. I know it might appear complex but really it's not.

The only problem with it is that it's heavy, turns heads though. Most peoples reaction is....

It's a suomi magwell thingy. I was going to make a "magwell " but decided to use suomi parts as a barrel latch was already built in.

I have built them from angle iron in the past. They are a bit of a PITA but they don't cost much to make.

Here's one that allows a vertical sten to use ppsh mags.

The mags work with 7.62 X25 and 9mm. All you have to do is swap the barrel.

Cut it and turn it 45 degress so the ejector is uppermost, then weld it back together again.
