    New look for a Micro

I fell into a good deal on a New Century Galil and a micro kit so I got it together and it ran great, the down side was that without some serious mods it didnt look like a traditional Mirco handguard was going to work.

So this is what I ended up with, I should have wipe the grim off in the 2nd picture but you get the idea.

    Comments?

    Matt...

What would it look like with this?
If it doesn't splatter, shatter, burst or explode, it's not worth shooting.

Im sure it could be done, just copy the stock side of the block from the factory galil folder and make it deep enough front to back to drill and tap for an AR receiver extention.

    OR

You could pound out the roll pin and remove the original stock. Make an Alum block to slip over the stock side if the hinge, drill and tap for a buffer tube and pin the two back together.

    Heres a couple more pics.

    Nice!

How many mods did you have to make to the handguards?

I had to modify the rear to lock tight with the reciever, relieve areas on the top of the HG for the Gas Tube and the front site and machine a special carbine endcap to fit the new location of the barrel. The HGs are rock solid, it would take some effort to get it apart with removing the cap up front. The heat sheild is still in there as well.
