The Octane 9 *will* fit in the larger Solo briefcase (see my video in post #241) on an M11/9 but you have to trim out part of the briefcase wall to squeeze it in just like you do for a Vers9S in that setup.

Thank you. I’ve been building each one comissioned by someone else as if I was going to keep them all for myself.

That was a cool video! First thing I thought when I saw it was "That looks like one of Concord's". Doh, guess the timelines are a little off, but that shows the quality of Concord's work.

The HK "briefcase" IIRC, had to have a tax stamp and thereafter would transfer as a AOW. If that is correct, wouldn't the same apply to these? Or am I completely wrong?

The case doesn't require a stamp. Only the weapon. If you're using a SP89 or a SAP M11 for example, then you need a stamp. If you're using an NFA gun then there's no tax.

i am (almost) done with mine. there's a few small clean up things i'll do, but i'm done with 98% of it. i haven't fired it yet, but can't wait to try it out. i did not put in a shell diverter, but i might change my mind after i fire it a few times.

one thing i had to add/change. since my M10/9 and Octane 9 was too long, i had to use a fake can. it wasn't what i really wanted to do, but i had to do it anyway. and since it was a fake can, i had to insert a copper insert to protect the briefcase and the abuse of an exiting bullet.

    Nice work!
What you give up in noise suppression you will gain in firepower with a 9mm over .380.

Which mount were you using with the Octane? I have a case built for my M11 with Octane using the small 3 Lug mount.

I was using a fixed mount, threaded 1/2x28. The end of the barrel is threaded, so it would fit if I cut off some barrel and had it re-threaded, but I'm not going to do that.

Have to deactivate the grip safety on the real one, I'm thinking ...?

A friend of mine was planning on making something like this except he was gonna use a TEC-9 instead of a MAC. A guy on the range though argued with him for about an hour that it would be classified as a "AOW" and he'd have to fill out a tax stamp in order to even begin making something like this, even if he was just gonna use one of those mock suppressors. We understood the tax stamp thing if he was gonna use a actual suppressor, but we didn't think a mock suppressor would give any legal trouble. But now I hear different responses to this type of thing. So really, what's the legal status for something like this? Would you need to fill out the AOW tax stamp? Sorry if this has been answered multiple times, I'd just like a clear answer as to what the legal status is for these things.

If you put a semi-auto gun in a briefcase in which it can be fired without opening (or in a wallet holster in which it can be fired without removing), the gun must be registered as an AOW. I mention wallet holster because it’s the same concept — a gun in an enclosure under 26” long that hides its form and intent, from which it can be fired.
