    Sterling Dummy Barrels?

I have a Sterling MK6 carbine that I bought used many years ago. I believe that these were sold with a dummy short barrel, although, I have never been able to locate one for my carbine. Now that I have added a Wiselite carbine to my collection I would like to know if it is possible to actually add a dummy barrel to these carbines or is that going to be something that is not easy to do. Does anyone know of a source of dummy barrels?

If you dont wanna dish out the $$ for another dummy, why not make one from Stock?

Wiselite still sells the fake cans last I knew that will screw right on. I put one on one of my Sterlings and it looks much better than the skinny barrel...thats one option to make it look better. So far as fake barrels you could always make one out of a wood dowel, drill out the end a bit and paint it flat black. I'd considered that before I got the can. It wouldn't be hard to make at all. Most of the big box hardware stores sell various sizes of wood dowels.

Sterling barrels are to much trouble to change out to use a dummy barrel.

Agree with Banshee, to remove the barrel you have to take out the mag catch and ejector. OK if you want to put on display but too much trouble to go from display to shooter.

    Each to his own

Nice, Junkcollector! That ain't no junk!!!!!!!!

We are all entitled to our personal preferences and tastes. If MJLittman wants a dummy barrel, it's fine by me. "Variety is the spice of life."

Question for you, MJLittman. Do you just want a dummy barrel or do you want the fake nose piece also?

Had some time today, so I got started on a display barrel. (the short one)

I made it a little shorter. That way the extractor won't get damaged if the bolt slams forward.

Anyone know what the BATFE rules are on these? It's solid bar stock. I am just wondering if I can bore a hole so the muzzle looks more realistic.

The back end of the Dummy is not supported, so just cut off the last 1 inch of your dummy and drill away on the front.

Traveler I like your dummy nose piece better, but don't bother doing the barrel so fancy. just screw into the nose piece. I'm sure you could sell them like hotcakes.

I set it far enough back so the extractor would not touch.
