Hunting down some American Walnut for this application, I may have a local stock specialist who can locate one of the right size.

I looked I found.. Local folks were too slow but I found a nice piece of Walnut, shipped! Any Carpenters about? I think a quality table router would do everything I need, but would like a second opinion. I’m basically cutting it down to ~1.92x3.5x10 then shaping it with the router. Not sure if the carry handle is worth the extra work.. but I imagine if I had some idea what I’m doing, it may not be too bad.

Got any sketches of what you need/want?

Let me have a few days to consult with a couple of guys re: if the wood will need to be stabilized to hold up (I think it will, especially with the carry handle.) I have a very busy schedule through the 7th, but I should have a 100% answer by the 12th.
It's possible I can get in touch with them this weekend, but no promises.

Without the Integral Carry Handle, it would be simply a matter fitting an essentially flat board. Have you considered using a standard wire Carry Handle (in its normal place) with a turned Wooden Handle?

Thanks boss any input is appreciated! I could just do a rail on top of the wood- but I do have an actual carry handle that could be mounted there. I donít need two!

As big and heavy as it will be, you may need 2 Carry Handles!

Almost big enough to be a two man job. The m60 stock has a strap attachment- Iíll put one on the front end so you can sling it over the shoulder and use the handle as a tertiary option for stability.

Baby steps today. Dropped off an additional part for the upper assembly, waiting on the stock mount which will probably arrive after the holiday- along with the walnut blank.

Well Well well... a Pre holiday bonus! Great work Mike!! This is a nice fit- not going to machine it until the initial upper housing construction is complete, to verify fit & clearance.

Awesome, looking forward to the video of you shooting it. Maybe it will motivate me to get back working on the AR style shotgun upper for the m10 I started 2 years ago.

Ok, my Father unexpectedly came by today (retired Military, expert cabinet maker, gun guy, & one of the smartest people I know)! I
I showed him your idea, & he said it's pretty much like putting an extra dick on a donkey; Make a solid top cover and a separate Carry Handle that works on the Center of Balance.

Totally valid, good feedback! Then again, a two dick donkey might be a hell of a donkey... in the donkey world.

I always heard it as a three petered billy goat.

The sayings are “like a pony with 2 peters,” and “Horny as a 3 peckered billy goat.”

I would agree this was a waste of time if we could still register new machine guns. I would just register a Siaga 12 and Vepr 12. Or better yet, a bunch of drop in auto sears. Since that’s not an option, this is going to be one cool two dicked donkey.
