Yes this is correct so depending upon the round type and gas setting the system should be tuned from ďundergassedĒ to just enough (Iíll be using an after market gas plug for finer control) so the force exerted on the Mac receiver and upper assembly is minimized.

The road to FA 12 gauge is a long and steep one. Fortunately, due to the support of fellow UT members, itís not a mountain Iím climbing alone.

Iíll let this member choose to ID themselves or not but a huge THANK YOU goes out to him for providing this custom gas valve. This will allow for more incremental adjustments, to achieve an optimized gas flow.

Teamwork for the win! It was just sitting in a drawer from an old Saiga project. Iím glad you can use it for testing.

Now quit screwing around on the internet and get that upper done 😄

Welding gear was down but now restored- I’d expect an update this week on the new housing construction. Once we have that part in hand things should pick up! Winter is a good time to be waiting on this work.

Behold the first major step is complete. A non firearm housing (no FCG/ holes) with barrel, gas & magazine systems installed & tested. Ready for use in the new upper. Lots of welding, drilling & tapping to follow.

Good fit and function with the magazine- this one is a pro-mag. This weekend Iíll get it on the bench to swap out the gas regulator & start work on the mounts and side plates.

Good call- at the moment I can do this. Excluding the barrel & stock the length from the rear of the Mac would be about 15.5 inches. It may be possible to shorten that a bit more- but form follows function here. In order to make this logistically feasible, I had to design around capability limitations. Also the length & weight is immaterial since itís a shotgun upper for use in a 90 pound shield mount, attached to my jeep!

    Estimated OAL about 4 feet

M2B is 65+ inches so.. not that bad. Note:

    - external rear buffer tube
    - MG barrel jacket to provide 1. A tripod mount, and 2. An AA sight because trap shooting

It will, more or less. The 1919 style ďside platesĒ will hold the shotgun and the Mac upper sub-assemblies in place. Iím using portions of a stock Mac upper for the lower interface. This is not representative of actual positioning so Iíd caution against drawing any conclusions other then its pretty long at the moment!

Will it contain any part of a FCG like a hammer? I forget, is this just a one-off project or something you plan to submit to FATD?
