Hi folks,
I took me years to find it but finaly, i got a Indonesian FNC in my collection. The FN FNC is well know to most guys but the Pindad SS1 is not. As far as i know, there is only one in Europe. I did some search in the USA, seems to be a negative too.
The Royal Belgian military museum doesn't have it nor the Belgian Army ballistic lab.
Checking the weapon registers give zero hits. I'm happy
So, here is a technical review and detailed pics.
I received it yesterday, so, a range report will follow asap.
M3=top SS1 below
Original Belgian Army markings (=ABL)
ABL
Indonesan marking, made in 1991
Note the different safe position on the selector.
The SS1 have readable position markings on the right side too.
The ABL's don't have this markings. Some early civilian FN FNC do have markings on both sides.
The Pindad has an other handgrip. It also contains a oiler, pullcord and brush.
FN uses a trapdoor.
Pindad lockingsystem+sling attachment. The lockingsystem differs.
You can open a SS1 without manipulation of the lock. You need to unlock it to get it close.
The Belgian Army needs the use of the lock in order to open and close the folding stock.
The pindad uses a loose "eye" to fix the sling. The ABL is 90 degrees turned and fixed.
Check out the springloaded pin that locks the stock. It takes some force to close or to pull open...
completely locked...
