That lower looks awfully dark to be an original A2. Was it reanodized or is this another of the post '86 "collection" (is the receiver extension ring reinforcement on the opposite side smooth where it interfaces with the body of the receiver or angular)?

It looks gray in person. Probably lighting or the phone pic

In addition to the dust cover making marks on the lower, your charging handle will do the same every time you charge it. Because of this, I also put tape on the upper part of the receiver extension, and I make it a habit to never use the charging handle (when I do, I apply upward pressure so it drags on the upper not the lower) and instead I just use the bolt release.

sad when a receiver is worth so much $$ that you have to think of how to protect it when using it....i have not noticed any wear from the charging handle

my lower is well used, got all the use markings, no point to baby it not. time to have fun
