Ive got 2 approvals. Yet my stamps havenít showed up
Weíre at 18 and 20 days now assuming one didnít show up today

Itís always been 5-7 days. 10x in a row.

I called for a status on a form4 last month and was told that a letter had gone out to my dealer on 5/21 requesting additional info. Dealer still has not received the letter as of today (21 days). Maybe the letter is still at the NFA branch, I'll call later this week and ask for a re-send if it does not show up by Thursday.

correct on the vacations...maybe sitting in a pile and not even mailed yet.....everyone is on vacation the last 2 weeks..

at 30 days do i ask them to resend a new stamp?

painful is the 7-8 months for approval....more painful? having it approved and being at day 20 waiting for a stamp to arrive in the mail

My record is 81 days. Approved on 3/30/17 arrived at dealer on 6/19/17. Had several run 19 to 21 days. I think the examiners just leave them sitting in a pile until they feel like walking down to the mail room. There productivity is measured on approvals not mailings so no incentive to rush it out.

Thatís correct. There are only two original 5320.04s you mailed to BATF. One original is for their files, (which doesnít have a stamp), and your original which has a stamp affixed. If your original stamped form is lost, youíll received a certified copy of BATFís original F-4 with no stamp.

Bummer, I find the stamps to be kind of neat. I already have color copies of all mine, it’s what I take with me when I go shooting.

Batram I’m excited for you brother, after the long wait for mine it was just a dream to get it out and shoot it. Best gun I’ve ever shot by a country mile, maybe two.

Interesting fact: Making a copy of a US stamp is considered forgery by law, color copies are even worse that black and white. We were informed of this fact at an ATF/FFL meeting. ATF agents were told this by the Treasury Dept agents or Secret Service Agents, I cant remember which.

Looks like you got bad information.

Does the possessor of an NFA firearm have to show proof of registration?

Yes. The approved application received from ATF serves as evidence of registration of the NFA firearm. This document must be made available upon request of any ATF officer. It is suggested that a photocopy of the approved application be carried by the possessor when the weapon is being transported.

No, my information is correct. It is illegal to copy a stamp just like it is illegal to copy a dollar bill. This was passed on to us as one of those it's technically illegal but do it anyway kind of things. ATF says to make copies while secret service says it's illegal. I have copies of all my paperwork too. Just one of those fun facts to drive people crazy.

The story I got was that a Secret Service agent had a personal NFA item and realized or was told at work that it was in fact illegal to copy the stamp. He then called someone he knew at ATF and passed the info along. It's one of those no one cares but it is fun to see the look on peoples faces when you tell them.

Haha Ill admit I puckered a bit when I read it and wen to the googling. Do you think the atf made me do it would be a successful defense

Also the law they may be referring to is in reference to postage stamp, which I would think is not the same as a tax stamp. Please understand I’m not trying to argue with you, this has just peaked my curiosity now. Ok supposed to be asleep. Resume the hunt for answers in the am.
