I am just starting to look at AK's and like the Krink style... any suggestions on 7.62x39 vs 5.45x39? I like the idea of the original 7.62 but the 5.45 looks like a breeze to shoot. I am saving up and hopefully can move on a transferable one late next year.

A buddy of mine that owns khybercustoms.com made two different Krink clones that started life as M92 PAP pistols.
Easy/cheap way to get to your end goal unless it has to be a true Krink.
Sidefolder with the 4pc flash hider that does a pretty good job
Underfolder with the classic style booster = flamethrower
An M92 (old) Vector Co. factory SBR:
7.62x39

Vector M92 Yugo pistol built off a virgin parts kit then Form 1'd before the availability of the imported PAP M92 pistol. I went with the classic look.
Cost way too much in retrospect. A PAP SBR can be done pretty cheaply and look identical.
I once saw a 7.62×39 Krink with an under folder;IMHO it was BEAUTIFUL
Anyone have a Krink in 7.62x39?
Would the 5.45x39 be able to hit steel at 100 and 200 yards?

Did nobody look at the pictures? M92s are in 7.62x39.
While both the 7.62 and 5.45 round are theoretically capable of making that shot out of a short barrel, I've found 50-75 yards to be the max effective range while standing unsupported with iron sights. Better sights or a magnified optic would probably make 100 yards shots doable but 200 seems a bit optimistic to me. Maybe I expect more out of projectile weapons than other people, but if I can hit a man sized target with a 2" revolver at 100 yards, and with an AR15 at 800 yards, I don't want anything that can't

I was at a buddy's place earlier , and I was constantly hitting targets at 300 yards with my S.A. AK rifle. I was also hitting a 24" steel plate at 400. Iron sights,standing position.
I realize some people can't do it, I guess that's why God made shotguns.
I'm not trying to be an ass, but if you take the time to learn how to shoot, you will amaze yourself. Before learning how to hit a moving target at 800 yards, I would have said it was impossible

I got out of 5.45 because the corrosive is a pita. If you want commercial it's fine. If you convert a pistol you want one with a longer barrel. Lots of them have super short barrels.

I bought this PAP a few years ago....SBRd it few years ago, love it....I stained the wood red to look Russian....
I have one almost identical to this picture minus the optic and I love it. I had never worked on aks before and riveting and modifying the reciever to install the correct rear side folding trunion was a beotch....
If you go the route of converting a m92 pistol consider some of the bolt on hinges they now have. I believe storm works or something like that there called
Bulgy AK74U, built from matching virgin kit. Thinking about cutting it up and selling as a parts kit...

I was wondering if I could go the other way, I have a “pistol” krink back plate that can be pinned on but I am unsure if you can go from SBR to pistol...but I think not. The idea of welding on the front trunnion kills me.
