    Lage Mac 11/22 mag fix

As I've seen on here I'm not the only one to have trouble getting my max11/22 to run correctly and consistently. I have a max11/22 for the sk upper. I've also run it in my standard Mac upper. Could never get through a mag, best would be 20 rds. I do think fast pulling of the trigger helps but was not happy even with mini mags or remington golden bullet. Couldn't tell any difference between hand loading the mags or loading with the mcfadden loader. Still a bunch of failure to properly feeds, or not feeding at all was about 99% of the issue. Well I designed an addition to the magazine baseplate latch to increase spring pressure. This has almost 100% fixed my issues. I'll still get a failure to fire from time to time due to just being 22 ammo. But very rarely get the failure to feed. The piece I've made is 3d printed and fits into the mag, reduces capacity by a few rds. I've been loading them to 30 or 35 as it's an easy number to load to. Now I have no clue if this will help anyone else out or not as this is just a single sample but I've got 5 mags and all 5 now are useable. I'm shooting standard velocity cci with a liberty mystic and get great results. Don't have any other 22 ammo to test unfortunately and honestly don't plan to try other ammo as I'd prefer to shoot subs and it's what I tend to stock up on. Have shoot a few mags without the suppressor without any issue. I'm willing to sell some if anyone else is stuck like I was. As mentioned here before I think the big issue with the mags is spring pressure along with too tight a tolerance between the mag body and the follower.

Newer mags and dirty mags can be sticky. Cleaning and/or dry lubing them can help out.

The tldr version of above, my kit sucked, I made a 3d printed part to fix the mags, my kits rocks now. You want one pm me.

The straw and what I've made are doing similar things. Mine doesn't wear out as it's made of petg which is pretty strong and gives more spring pressure than what the straw is gonna given.

Video of some shooting. 150 rds. Had one failure to eject, can't really blame the mag on that. It was raining and couldn't get the wife out there, apparently she will melt. Will make a better video when it's not raining and I feel like wasting 150 rds. Set up Max 11sk upper w/ 22 kit with liberty mystic. Cci std was the ammo

I'm in on this; worth giving it a try.

I'll let you know what I experience after the doohickeys arrive.

You need a clever name for for these things. Like BlackDog Viagra or something.

I have a mystic X that I wanted to use with my kit. Was worried about the lead sticking to the inside of the can and making it impossible to take a part. Have you had that issue?

I've put a brick through mine since I've gotten my kit working. Have not taken the mystic apart yet but should be able to get it apart using the tool provided. It's definitely filling up pretty good, the benefit of a monocore is we can just used a flat head to push the junk out the other side. So I'm not to stressed about it, worse case I'll put a few 223 rounds through it to loosen things up. Also I'm pretty sure liberty will take it apart and clean it if you get it stick without to much hassle.

So is it just a spacer that makes the spring compress more or something else? Care to give more details?

It is an addition to the base plate retainer/ spring holder thingy. I don't think there is an accurate word to describe what it is. But yes it just increased the spring pressure. It connects to the original one and holds the base plate in place as well. They are tuneable if needed and I could make different size spacers to allow tuning, would be fairly easy to do but have not had the need to do so. Will do that if the first few who try it do not have success.

Wish I could just find a 22 kit to mess with but none out there at all.

good luck in the search I bought all I could when they were making them and was even on a wait list for a year until I got one out of the last run! They are like gold to me now.

I have both the Max11/22 and M11/22 still new in the wrappers. I have had them both for awhile and bought them even though I currently have no interest in shooting 22 because I figured one day they wouldn’t be available anymore. Hopefully I will get more free time in the future to play around with them both. My Max11/15 and Max31 are usually all I shoot these days.

    $10 each.

I received two of these little spring "Viagras" yesterday and I will test them in my never-has-run-well M11/9 probably next week.

I will have two altered mags loaded with 35 rds Fed bulk and CCI and then two unaltered mags downloaded to 35 rounds of the same.

While I really appreciate this approach, I do think that if this works, the ultimate answer is stronger springs. I've already heard from BlackDog that they have no intention of coming up with a longer/stronger spring, so I'll probably be ordering a couple from McMaster Carr to see if the spring alone can cure this. There is a possibility (unlikely I think) that 40 rounds vs. 35 is part of the problem.

Asking 10 bucks per. Gonna have to ask for shipping also as apparently there's no good way to ship small things for cheap anymore. I completely agree that the ultimate fix is stronger springs but found this to be an easy way to accomplish a similar thing.
Looking forward to your feed back.
On a side note I've also tested it with Thunderbolt's and federal bulk pack with good results.

You can ship these USPS First Class in an envelope for $2-$3 max. I'd get a pack of ~6x9 kraft paper envelopes and tape all the edges and the flap.

My concern is the nipple on top getting damaged and then the base plate will not lock in. Otherwise I'd do that. Probably unlikely that it would get messed up in shipping but for a few extra bucks it'll prevent that from happening.
