Just got offered a free Sionics .380 can (for the cost of the stamp), and am trying to figure out what I can do with it....
Looks like there is plenty enough "meat" on an Uzi bbl to handle 5/8-11" threads, and still clear the stock bbl. nut.
Who would you guys recommend that can trim an SMG bbl to about 8 3/4" OAL, and thread it 5/8-11" down to the retaining ring????
Those threads are so coarse that they tend to come loose during firing which is not an issue if you are holding the van on a MAC but kinda out there for a full size Uzi. Have you thought about changing the mount on the can instead? I like the old Bixler 3 lug mounts.

I can tell you the 2nd stage has baffles instead of the spirals however...look just like the ones in the M-11/9 SWD cans.
I'm not to keen on modifying the 1st stage for a different mount, and even though I've got a 5/8-11 to 1/2-28 adapter somewhere, I try to avoid using them.
I do, however, have a trashy blaster barrel I'm not too concerned about chopping and threading...

Call a machine shop. Thread cutting isn't really specific to guns.

I'd be worried about me.
If you use a local machine shop, make sure they index from the Bore, not the outside.
