First, Big thanks to Offmarksman For the lead on the front gas block sight.

This has been one of my projects that’s took years to complete (Mini-14 SBR / ac556 clone), largely due to rarity of the front gas block sight. I’ve found them in the past for prices that I simply couldn’t afford and or in horrible condition. The knock off sights just wouldn’t work for me either and they weren’t cheap. I bought this factory folder from and older gentleman and it was basically new.

I have a stainless SBR in a sidefolder, so very similar. like you, I went thru like 4 different variations of front sight till I found a real one.

Does yours cycle fine?

I’ve yet to try mine but I’ve read some people have issues when they cut the barrel down. Its possible that the factory 13” models have a larger barrel gas port / hole. Hopefully I can test mine tomorrow.

I’ve never bought any of the reproduction front sights, I just keep looking till I found one in good shape for a fair price.

It worked with light 223 reloads (new recoil spring and buffer). I was kinda surprised.

First test below, only had a few minutes before dark.

if I recall, mine has a little larger gas port in it now with the 13" barrel.
