Organizational Training/Use Materials for MAC-10

Are there any known examples of documents/materials of how any police/military organization may have trained/use/care on the few MACs that entered into some service roles?

I understand many were not sold or used in regular roles - however it seems plausible that given the organizations that did buy them some entity may have documented or developed some training docs for its use.
Perhaps some Police agency or the US Navy SEALs may have tried these enough to determine it may take some specialized handling to get the most out of it and documented some techniques, etc.


On the other hand I can see that possibly
-Some agencies and buyers didn't want documentation of use - used for clandestine purposes.

and/or

-its limited utility may have lent itself to buyers remorse where purchases went as evaluation items that went undeveloped and undocumented.

My interest is out of collectors/historical interest and have not found much out there and hope the collecting community might offer more.

All I have personal knowledge of is McNairy County, TN SD; they had 1, which had a Sionics Can.

Very much looking forward to the book. I live relatively close to the Atlanta area and spoke to some local NFA people - I know Atlanta PD had at least one for an "entry team" and Powder Springs and Smyrna police had them - perhaps out of local affiliation more than any need. Nobody thinks they were used often if at all offically.

I also met a guy who claimed he did work for Werbell - Don't get excited- Merely a guy that did odd jobs and cut grass etc. for his "estate" after the sionics days were gone by.
As I understand it at one point Werbell had a "training" school of some sort (or claimed to train VIP escorts) - not affiliated with MAC but it begs to offer a notion that Werbell could have seen a special training class/needds for MAC-10 users as another profit center of business for him. Perhaps the sour departure of Werbell and Ingram from Military Armaments Corporation closed that opportunity before anything could be seeded.

I was hoping that there is some info somewhere showing how someone that handled a MAC might have developed techniques for use. It's "pickup and point at what you want to die" interface is pretty well understood, but I'd like to think someone may have developed holding/handling/carry methods for such an unconventional weapon where handgun or traditional subgun techniques (for the time) aren't applicable.

Watching the Ski chase scene in "The Soldier" doesn't qualify as training does it? : )

Interesting indeed - Any details on what you heard? Actually that story sounds more plausible than it might appear - As Southern Bell may have possibly been based in Atlanta at that time - Sometimes board members and other local business affiliates can create top-down experimental partnerships - example a security head in Southern Bell who is affiliated with the local Atlanta gun scene - thinks this might work for security trials for security (e.g. compact yet impressive deterrent to prevent crime & liability). Lots of hypotheticals really - perhaps some affiliate business person known to Werbell, or Quantum Who may have had some business affiliates to leverage some top down private/corporate security experiments trials for product feedback/improvement. Again hard to think you would hand off MACs to people without significant training, but those were different days.

I’ve repeated here a couple times (in 2004 and last year), upon my CLEO sign-off on a Mac 10/45 with Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) in Florida by the chief’s deputy, he saw what I was getting and reminisced he was on BSO swat in the early 80’s and they used Mac 10s for entry. Back in the very early 2000’s when I got the signature, BSO presented the deputy for sign-offs and entertained a line of anxious guys downstairs in HQ’s lobby every other week on I think a Tuesday! I didn’t have time to chit-chat to learn more what with folk standing behind you like it was Christmas and Santa at the head of the line lol.

I sincerely believe they are fine as-is OEM w stock extended butt up nearly centerlined into the inside of your clavicle region, near top of vest, with good enough sights (front really singular in importance) for CQB. Gripping the front end not the strap. A deliberate shouldered tightly drawn stout entry gun with maximum delivery if needed. Other better? Sure but certainly not that compact. Especially in 80’s. Navigating doorways - If I could’ve used something shorter than an MP5/10 Id’ve done it and wouldn’t have hesitated with a Mac with routine drill time. You’d often be bracing the weapon on walls and stuff in slow methodical clears. I think an Uzi’d be some bit heavier clunkier... a lighter closely held shouldered firearm is gold.

Florida has sunshine laws - perhaps a FOIPA request equivalent sent to BSO might drum up some inventory records or other correspondence and records concerning the 1980’s Swat program.
