Ok so I am sitting here waiting on my M11/9 and I can't decide what to spend more money on. Max11 and a bunch of zmags or Max31 and drums/converted sten stick mags. I like that there is a conversion to 22 for the max11 and the max 31 looks super bulky. Just looking for some input
Once you start shooting those 72 round drums there is no going back. Plus the 31 is more stable and therefore more accurate in my opinion. If you can only pick one I would pick the Max 31.

I am much more accurate with the Max 31 and I love the 72 rounds versus 32. I only shoot for fun.

My first purchase was a Max11 and the Max11-22 kit. The .22 kit runs well with the right ammo. Then I got a Max31 mkII. 72 round mag dump is awesome, but I found it to be less comfortable to shoot than the Max11 as that drum sticks out on the sides. It is just a bit long for me as well. I'm still glad I bought it, but in the end I prefer the Max11.

Seriously though they're both excellent upgrades and (aside from the .22 kit availability, which may be a biggie) it's really a matter of preference: fairly compact SMG vs high-capacity automatic carbine.

With the advent of the slowfire bolt coming, your stock upper will be as slow as the max-11. So get the max-31 for some different flavor. I bought both uppers so there would be no regrets. Oh, get on the list for the stock .22 kit as soon as you think you might want one. Ask me how I know.
I prefer the Suomi upper for 9mm, but the MAX31 mk2 w/ .22lr conversion is hands down best for small folks, light , no recoil.

I voted for the MAX-11 and ZMAGs. But I might be biased.
That said, the MAX-31A I have is awesome beyond words.

...But I can say that about my Max 11 , now that I have French Bullet Holders...

Max 31, because drums are cool.
If you've got the MG, over time get them both. If I had to choose, well I there is nothing like a 70 round dump, but I like the way the 11 handles better.

Need some z mags with some Suomi tabs on them Marty! I like my Max 31 with the coffin mags, but those are impractical to stock up on these days.
