Aimpoint vs Eotech

Trying to decide which one to take. I'm having an Eotech 557 on borrow since yesterday and haven't shot with it on the gun yet. I will use either with a 4x magnifier on a Samson flip mount.

So, without starting a endless discussion, can each of you that uses either one tell me why you chose for the one you prefer?

I use Aimpoints on my "serious" rifles. I like the battery life and the ease of operation. The mount makes all the difference-I use LaRues. There's not a heck of a lot of difference between the M2,3 or 4 on the operational end.

I had an Eotech and thought it was cumbersome to get rolling.

My 2 cents, I have 2 Aimpoints, and one EOTech 552. I like the 552 better.

I have both, and like both. Biggest like on the Aimpoint is battery life. Biggest plus on the EOTech is the reticle, but that is a personal preference.

Aimpoint when I was in the Army.... I liked it, but I have bought two eotech's since leaving. I like the reticle better on the eotech's.

ok after running a semi scientific study with an eotech 552 and an aimpoint compm3 on two identically equiped smith & wesson mp ar-15's myself and 3 county cops all produced faster hit times, and faster split times from low ready with the eotech's out to 150yds. beyond that the aimpoint was a wee bit faster for us. i personally jst purchased a 557 last week and don't like the lack of clarity in the ranging dots. aimpoint is great for end of world stuff with battery life

This is like comparing ford and chevy. I grew up with a ford, threrefore I like ford. The eotech was my first RCO. I learned how to drop plates with it and I feels more natural than any aimpoint or trijicon. The battery life isn't as good as the aimpoint, but thats what my BUIS are for. If I were you I would shop around and find the best price, and pick that one.

My EOtech eats batteries. I can put a brand new pair in the sight and in 30 days they are dead. My EO is on my tacticool plate shooting rifle so I put batteries in at the range and take them out when I get home.

I would like a Aimpoint for my Entry Tac upper as the rail is made for them...

echo3mike is right, my first good reflex sight was a EO and that is what I like best.
