Its been a year

Can you believe its been a year since I last fired my uzi smg! I hav e been busy with work and family life while my poor uzi sits in the safe. I have only put 40 rounds in it total. Has anyone else had this problem?

Sort of. I have not shot 9 mm through mine in over a year. I've spent hours and hours playing with the .22 conversion, and it's not been able to shoot more than 6 rounds in a row in full auto. The .22 conversion has saved me a bundle this year!

Yeah the more I thought about it I reallized its been about a year and a half. My buddy and I put 40 rounds out the pipe and put her up. I know I should be putting more rounds in her and have a blast, but I guess I lost intrest. I don't want to trade her off or sell her but this kind of bothers me. I haven't shot in so long I probably forgot how!

Granted I do not yet own a FA Uzi. I can not imagine going more than a few days without shooting with my Uzi. I have had to limit myself to two 32 rd. magazines of ammo. per day as I need to get more reloading supplies.

It's been two years since any shooting for me, subgun or any other gun. Which is kind of funny because during that time period, I got a new Marvel .22LR conversion with 1/2x28 threads extended barrel for use with my .22 suppressor atop a 1911 and a Saiga SBS. I might get out next weekend or never.

I remember when I first got into NFA guns. There was not a week that went by that we would be at the range putting lead down range. Now, 8 years later, things change and now I get more joy letting other people shoot my guns than I do. Still have the NFA bug but its more satisfied by being more of a collector now and allowing others to shoot them.

I just bought a new suppressor and have only put around 30 rounds through it. Now I have a scope I have to sight in and I keep on putting it off.
Still, most of the pleasure I get from my Uzi is owning a piece of history.

I feel the same way. I don't go out unless I can take someone with me. Its been over a year since I've done any shooting. Its mostly time -- little kids and work. Hell, I've got several pistols and rifles I've never even shot.

I don't shoot it as often as before, just because the price of replacing the ammo is still too high. It's kind of like driving your car with a tank of $1.50/gal. gas knowing that you're gonna have to fill it back up with the now $4/gal. stuff.

However, it always cheers me up to take the Mini out to the range.

I shoot quite frequently because I have my own range. But the uzi only comes out by request when shooting with friends. I don't think I've taken it to the range by myself for better than a year. Maybe longer. And ammo is not an issue because I reload and stocked up on supplies awhile ago. I think about selling it from time to time, but I've never seriously considered it.

Funny, but I shoot mine almost as much on SA as FA. Hitting steel at 200 yds is a hoot - and a good way to demonstrate what you can do with a "pud" pistol cartridge........and that a blocky kerchunking piece of iron with a barrel that ratchets into place can engage distant targets more quickly and precisely than a 9mm handgun.

What really appeals to me is the ease of maintenance - I take mine to the range no matter what else I'm going to shoot. Fun way to finish a sight-in session or whatever. When I get back I doubt I spend more than 30 seconds "cleaning" before it's back in the safe.

Fortunately, my 13 y/o son has a number of friends who are more than willing to chew into my ammo supply.

Sam
