Just set the top cover on its side and hit it with a rubber hammer. It will probably take a pretty good rap but do it slowly so you don't get it too tight. You'll want to tighten up the side of the topcover towards the front and towards the back. I've done several and it works great.

I've also squeezed them in vise padded with hard rubber or plastic. Like RoverDave said, just do the sides at the front and back. Don't squeeze too much, because the top covers are very hard and brittle.
