  • You don't really have anything to worry about as far as bulging the receiver. What is a more likely possibility is pranging a baffle inside the can. Has more to do with the twist rate of the barrel. I know FOUR individuals with M2000 cans on ARs and ALL FOUR guys have dinged baffels towards the end of the cans. The 223s really don't stabilize well under 10-12 inches of barrel. But then if you have a faster twist rate such as 1 turn in 7 inches, the bullets atabilize well enough, but then you lose the terriffic wound capability of the relatively unstable 223 round.

    So... faster spin rate, more accurate... more stable. One small hole with a larger hole out the back. Slower spin rate (1 in 12, 1 in 14)... hit the guy in the hand, tear the arm off.

    Personally, I'd use the 53 for what it is... a flashy, noisey, impressive crowd pleaser. I'd be more apt to use a can on a 14 or 18 inch 223 barrel.
