This is a question for those folks who build there own . First I would describe myself as a bumbling tinkerer , whose only major asset is persistence. I have put together a few AKs and fews galils. I am seeing all the inexpensive UZI kits, and have found the McKay receivers and semi auto bolt...
Hi Jaxx, I am the bumbling tinkerer that started this thread and would love to hear your experience. I am still in the parts gathering stage. The base Kit I will be using is an ARM kit and I have pretty much decided on 300 blackout. In your 300 build how is reliability any "Short Stroking" ...
Let me start by saying I am considering this "Because I can" not because I am some "Operator" or envision this as anything other than a range toy. With the availability of various Galil Kits without Barrels. I am considering building a Integrally Suppressed Galil. A couple of things to get out...
My Builder has finished my 7.62x39 Galil. Like my 5.56 it started with a Apex kit. Because at best I am a bumbling tinkerer, this one I handed over to someone skilled. It is now about ready for Cerekote. My first is the traditional black on black. I am thinking I might like something different...
I have two questions, both probably likely to reveal my ignorance but I will ask anyway.

Currently I have 3 Aimpoints a m4 on my AR in 5.45 .. a H1 on my PS90 and PRO on my 300 BLK Pistol they are great , reliable and battery friendly never loose Zero. On the the other hand I have Eotech 512s on my 5.56 pistol and 5.56 Carbine never do they lose zero, but they are hard on...
I bought 2 of the Apex kits a few weeks apart. As another post described they are acceptable but rough , One kit came with a gas tube that while function is very pitted and the hand-guards were abysmal. The upside they came with a barrel. I think If I were buying right now I would lean toward...
I have built rifles using Anderson, Olympic, Anderson , Palmetto State , Arero , Yankee Hill Machine , Spikes and Cot. While arguable that some use better metals, and certainly the finish is nice on some , they all work perfectly.
