Shadow: are you looking at a short barrel or 16"+?

The closest you will get to "spec" loads is by trimming with an auto trim die (manuf. linked somewhere on UZI talk), and the Redding .300-221 dies. You have to use thin wall brass--Lake City is best; PMC will not work--the case neck becomes to wide to chamber in 300-221 barrels.

I shoot my own handloads mostly. UMC and S&B have worked fine for me, also federal. Just stay away from Israeli surplus--HOT ammo and when one is a squib, the next one will definitely get your attention. I'm not sure what it would do to a MAC, but luckily my UZI only suffered a bent top...

I think the bullets are losing stability and beginning to precess. Once they precess too far, they'll begin to tumble at a high rate and probably don't have the strength to hold up to the severe stresses caused by that.
