Get both. It's tough to beat Uzi reliability and nostalgia. I don't think I've ever had a failure of any kind with my reg uzi bolt gun...it just runs and runs. I do love the fact I can put a .223 upper on my Mac though. For the price, the versatility of the Mac beats other MGs.

Did you run the bolt over the empty mag several times? Sometimes the Zmags need a little shaved off the top of the mag before they run right. They're great mags, but every Mac is a bit different. I'd try that and then try it again. Every Zmag I get, I run the bolt over the empty mag 10 times...

Transfer times are definitely hurting the NFA industry from MGs to suppressors. I'd have a bigger pile of suppressors if I could actually get it when I paid for it, rather than waiting a year. Same for SBRs...

I drilled the hole today for mine. No problems and I look forward to shooting it with different buffer weights to play with the ROF...that's the main reason I decided to drill the hole.

So, I got the email from Lage today that it's time for me to order. Not sure if I should drill or go with the IRM. I like the idea of trying different buffers and springs to reduce the ROF. I'm also not likely to try other calibers, so this will just be .223. The IRM may be easier, but I wonder...

Likely an obvious question, but I'll ask anyway to confirm, to run different buffer weights and spring combos, you need to drill the hole?

The a1 looks like the proportions are better, and it's closer to the m16 proportionally in my opinion. The answer is to obviously get both. :)

What number were you?

I think it was two different kinds of ammo. Winchester white box 115gr and Remington UMC I believe is what we originally tried..clearly underpowered for my Sten.
