Another thing I didn't know that MAC made. I have an SOT buddy that is about to start to produce these.

I love the look of the old style 10-22 with the fat suppressor that required the removal of material from the forensic.

The M11 already runs at a blistering ROF. Does this stuff make it shoot even faster? Any idea what the ROF would be?
No, it has a heavier 130gr bullet, to slow down the velocity and make it quieter, a bit hotter charge to compensate for the heavier round but most likely only a minimal difference in ROF. Someone who knows more about terminal ballistics can probably give you a better answer but this stuff was designed by MAC to run optimally in the M11, as quietly and reliably as possible.

130 grain vs 90 grain is a large increase in mass. Never thought about it - maybe wanted it always subsonic in any environment and some additional mass for energy.

According to The MAC Man book, the 130 grain loading was devised to offer more power than the std 380 round and subsonic performance close to 9mm luger subsonic performance. Stating the load initially made by MAC's ammo department and later by Winchester would possibly "damage" a standard 380 pistol. I'm sure this was "reported" info - and not physically proven during publication by testing rounds, but the lore suggests its hotter but with a heavier projectile yields more power and subsonic performance. I'd be interested to see a chronograph and gel test with it - But they are probably worth more than gold in weight so leave it to the lore.

It says on the box, "This ammunition is loaded to higher velocity and pressure than conventional 380 Automatic . . . ." I guess the question is "higher" compared to what? The URL below says it is supposedly loaded to 950fps, which is about as fast as many loads in the 80-95gr range and would be quite hot.

ETA: The link includes what is purportedly "an old AFTE journal article by Monty Lutz from pages 35 & 36 of the August 1975 journal," which might be of interest to the historical collectors here.

Anybody have one of the RPB leather M11 .380 shoulder holsters? They made a couple different versions of it. The original version was a normal vertical shoulder rig, offered in the catalog as a “convertible cut away with shoulder harness”. It has a small Cobray logo stamp on it. They made a few different versions of it with slightly different attachment points for the shoulder harness.

The second version is an upside down vertical shoulder holster with a large Cobray logo on it. I believe the upside down version was actually originally being sold by RPB as a hip holster only, advertised as a “M11 cutaway hip holster” they claimed in the catalog they were “manufactured to fill a special government contract” and that they were the “fastest holster available”.

Seems nobody was buying the hip holster cutaway since the shoulder version could also be worn on the hip and was only a few bucks more and included a shoulder harness… so they converted the cut away fast draw government contract hip holsters into upside down shoulder rigs (only way to attach the harness that version of the cutaway holster was in an upside down configuration). The upside down “fast draw” version has a steel plate inside the flap and a steel plate over the trigger guard to create some stiffness and resistance and allow the holster to snap open quickly.

I have one of the early “convertible with harness” shoulder holsters and a unique example of the other version that was obtained as a rough leather blank that came from the RPB auction. I completed the leather blank into a finished holster, for the Cobray logo marked plate on the trigger guard I cut a piece off one of those M11/9 double magazine clamps. I decided to leave it brown, as they never made these holsters in brown so it is an interesting example. I took the shoulder harness from a bianchi shoulder holster.

I am still searching for a good factory original example of the upside down holster, it is by far my “holy grail” item

Here’s the upside down vertical holster. Including the catalog listing from RPB where it’s advertised as a hip holster only.

Here is the catalog featuring the “convertible with harness”, note that the holster the guy is wearing is the original version , vertical pointing down. Also at the top on the right side is the upside down version.

And a sales sheet for the “cut-away” quick draw hip holster.

On the original cut away hip holster, both snap buttons were on the flap for fast opening. The shoulder holster has the snaps installed differently, with one snap button on the retention strap and one on the flap.

Very cool stuff. Is the upside down shoulder holster actually fast? It’s hard for me to envision a good way to access the gun quickly like that.

Cool holster and pouch collection. I bet carrying a full size M10 on the hip gets heavy.

No, that upside down holster is totally impractical. It’s good only for transporting the gun concealed on your person, drawing it is a process and if you’re gonna need to use the gun you have to have it ready to begin with, removed from the holster . That upside down shoulder rig only exists because they took the “m11 cutaway quick release” hip holster and converted it into a shoulder rig because it wasn’t selling as a hip holster. They offered a “convertible cutaway shoulder/hip holster” for 5 dollars more so everyone was probably just buying that one instead. The “cutaway quick release” holster has a steel plate in the flap and originally had both snap buttons on the flap so it would open fast and easy (on the hip). They converted it into a shoulder holster and it could only be worn upside down because that’s the only way the shoulder harness could be attached. They attached the shoulder harness to the slot cut for the belt and a slot cut on the bottom. The actual cutaway shoulder holster (vertical normal shoulder rig) is slightly different, no steel plate, small Cobray logo, muzzle points down, grip points forward, easy cross draw. Cutaway quick release (upside down shoulder holster) has a large Cobray logo and larger flap, impossible to draw the gun, only good for concealed storage… and accidentally blasting yourself in the armpit since it’s made to be worn with the bolt cocked OPEN.
