.22 conversion kit worth it?

Worth it.


Runs wimpy on Federal Bulk. It likes Dynapoints and M-22. Went through more than 500 rounds before the first miss feed or miss fire on Monday. Takes some tuning. I've found you can't tune these kits to work w/o the host gun as the manufacturing variances in the SMG's . I've quit shooting 9's as the 22 is so much fun.

Worth every frickin' penny. My Vector kit runs on most anything, including Blazer. Does not like Remington but, then, what .22 does? Stick with HV RNs, plated or otherwise. Keep mags clean and dry. Every so often drop the lower and clean out the crud. I have introduced many kids to the world of NFA with my Uzi kit. Given the amount of crud associated with .22rf I have no interest in a kit for the M16. Sam

K2's 22 kit is what finally sucked me into the NFA world 9 years ago. Now I've pretty much added 22 conversion kits to every thing I own if they make one for it. The uzi slow fire kit is the bomb if you watch the vid. Eventually I'll get around to doing the same to my vector kit. So far my vector kit works very well only empties to fast. It only starts to miss after getting filthy, but i've only used vector mags with it.

Exactly. Mine came with a conversion kit and wow, what a giant buzz kill it is. I can't get 10 shots without a jam. A novice would never be able to shoot/clear jam/shoot. Had my normal 9mm setup last weekend and shared with friends. 500+ rounds without a single malfunction.

I have a Kuehl .22 upper for my M16 that runs like a sewing machine, though...took some tweaking to get there, but it's a blast. I've seen an online file on ways to slow it down a bit, but it runs so well now that I'm scared to mess with it.

Rick Kuehl built an F/A .22 upper for me to go with my AR15 Model 639. He used a Colt 9mm upper, 10" heavy barrel, front sight base w/o bayonet lug, grenade launcher ring, and a dummy moderator. It matches my 639 nicely. I wanted an 11.5" barrel, but he didn't have any available. Here are a few pics of my entire setup:

I have .22 kits for M16, MAC11 and UZI. My .22 UZI kit is the best running kit I have. It runs and runs and I sure as hell can run more than 3 mags without a jam (actually it runs dirty well with thunderbolt ammo). I have the Vector metal mags.

I had to use a glass plate and fine sandpaper to fit the 22 bolt so that the bolt slides freely in my receiver (with no bolt return spring installed).

Also I don't fill the mags completely (leave about 2 rounds out of the mag).

I do clean the barrel and mags as shooting suppressed blows crap back into the mags.

I wish I had bought two Uzis instead of one from Vector (I paid 2800 bucks in 2001) as I would like to have one setup in .22 all the time.

Once you get it running its the shizzle!

Im finding kits from IMI, some in black boxes some in blue, which is better? one has barrel insert, on has full barrel

Go with the new barrel. It's probably going to take less time to convert anyway, and my vector kit has been pretty solid. I get a misfeed/extraction failure 1/100 rounds, which I can live with, but I think that's mainly due to the ammo that I'm using.

Guys, I know this is a long time, but I had to put this on the back burner. Any ideas as to where to get a barrel compatible with the Vector kit? It's been a little hard. Do all of them interchange?

Bought the Vector .22 conversion kit at the same time as I bought my Vector Uzi. The kit came with an instruction sheet that directed that a bit of the ejector be removed, which I did. Function with .22 is excellent! The only problem is that due to the high rate of fire, the 25-round .22 magazine is empty in an instant. The kit is a true drop-in.

I purchased my full-sized FA Vector Uzi directly from Vector, which offered a $200 discount off of the $2,900 retail price at the time. I figure the gun has appreciated about 500 percent since then. I purchased many NOS South African and IMI accessories from Vector in the weeks that followed purchase.

I've owned 2 or 3 IMI/Action Arms 22LR kits and they worked OK in my semi UZI's but they didn't do much for me. I'll just stick with 9mm myself. Each to his own!

only thing I had to do was dry graphite the mags.
