Has anyone here ever reflected upon the fact that the largest military stick magazine holds 32 rounds? Strange number no? Why not 30 or 35? Perhaps this is just my religious studies background that included studies of Judaism amongst many other religions... but isn't it curious that 32 is the number of "Paths of Wisdom" on the Jewish Tree of Life in the Qabbalah? 10 Sephiroth and 22 Paths connecting them... Curious...

These 32 rounders are NOT the largest. There are also 50 round sticks as well. And, these work just as reliably.

Forgot about those, but you're missing the point. Regardless, it's still an interesting number of rounds for a Hebrew gun for the reason I mentioned.

I believe from a similar discussion several years ago (may have been on Subguns.com) on the 32 round magazine in the context of the German MP 40, not the later designed Uzi, that in Europe 9 mm ammo commonly came in an 8 x 8 (that is 64) round box, not the 5 x 10 (50 round) box that is common in America. Hence, a 32 round mag was half a box - nothing mystic, religious, arcane, or paranormal. I prefer 25 round mags for my Uzi shooting as (i) it is half a box and (2) prevents first time shooters from wasting ammo doing a mag dump/spray and pray.

I see no significance since there are 40 round, 45 round stick mag variants in routine usage in military magazines. Those numbers 40, 45 also have biblical parallels. So what?

What's impressive is that this is the 5th post in this thread. Five. The Fifth Book of the Bible (Deuteronomy) magnifies the grace of God, and in it special pains, so to speak, are taken to emphasize the great fact that not for the sake of the people, but for God's own Name's sake had He called, and chosen, and blessed them.

The Fifth Book of Psalms
The fifth book of Psalms sets forth the same great fact. Its first Psalm (Psalm 107) magnifies this, and shows how "He sent His word and healed them" (verse 20), and again and again delivered them out of all their trouble.

Thus I am the messiah. Send me your ammo, now.

I'm not certain why any subgun designers decided on 32 rounds of 9mm.......but when the 32 round UZI mag was designed, perhaps the two most prolific 9mm submachineguns already in existence - the British STEN and German MP40 - used 32-round mags. So did the Belgian Vigneron, and probably a few others. I realize the UZI mags are significantly different, but suspect the earlier subguns may have influenced the decision.

I think SecondAmend has nailed it! Very strange - I didn't see his reply or G230d when I replied to brown 8775's 2:16AM post, but they appeared after I submitted my post! My computer must be acting up.

The Israeli military issue Uzi ammo comes in 25 round boxes, 5x5. And it specifies "submachinegun" on the box in Hebrew. You would think that if there was some religious significance to the number 32, that they would provide the ammo for that specific gun in 32 round boxes.

Here's a link to a discussion of the Hebrew lettering:
