Today I test fired the prototype 357 sig conversion after the barrel mods. I also found the mags I was using have weld flash on the inside at the seam I polished the inside of two of the mags and went to it.

Bad news first. The 41AE mags when full (20 rounds) Still had 3 failure to feeds with round nose ammo out of five mags. All the failures occured at the first shots.

Now for the good news (and its very good!) I switched to IMI and FN 25 round 9mm mags. With the new barrel mods I fired over two hundred and fifty rounds, WITHOUT A SINGLE FAILURE!

Then I loaded up 100 rounds of factory flat point 357 sig ammo in the 25 round IMI mags. I shot all 100 rounds, WITHOUT A SINGLE FAILURE!

This was all in my Vector Uzi with the stamped feedramp.

The only downside to this is the 25 round mags only hold 18 rounds, which is two less than the 41AE mags. If I can get someone to volunteer for testing 32 round mags we can see how many they fit and if they are still reliable.

The plus side is the kits will be cheaper than the projected $375 because I don't have to supply $50 mags.

Any comments would be appreciated. I am modifying the completed prototype kits today and hopefully will have 20 more produced by the end of the weekend. Anyone interested in one of the first kits please contact me. As I said before, if you buy a kit from me and you don't like it for ANY reason I will give you back your money (less shipping cost). Let me know what you guys think.

If I have any 357 sig ammo left I'll try a 32 round mag tonight to see how many fit.

(And if you send me the conversion I'll try shooting it for you with my 32 round mags! :D )

I stuffed 23 .40SW rounds in my IMI 32 rd mag. I can send you some IMI mags for demo work. I'm still waiting for my Vector to transfer, so I don't need them for a while.

If you notice the rear of the .40 rounds hangs kinda low. I think the bolt will still pick it up, but I thought I would mention it. Kinda makes you wonder why they even came up with the .41AE mag. Do you have a .40 barrel yet? I am getting a little excited.

One thing at a time. The 40S&W barrels have yet to be manufactured. I am interveiwing a machine shop in two or three weeks. I'll be letting everyone know what happens.

Thumb's fine. I use the bump method and they just slide in. It was a little stiff. However, when I unloaded the mag the follower or some of the bullets got hung up. The vibration of firing may keep this from happening in use. I think the .40 will work better in the .41 mags than the .357 did. I have 3 of the .41 mags sitting here waiting for use plus one .45 mag that will probably work like a champ. If you haven't figured it out yet put me on your list.

I'd volunteer for that too. I have a wide variety of mags. :biggrin2 Karl.

Top Cat, what about using a .45 bolt? It would fit kinda sloppy, but it might work and would be cheaper to start out. I shoot 9mm out of my .40 Glock. I am guessing that the bolt is your biggest headache.

Several kits are completed with the new mods. I will post an ad on the board monday with contact details. Anyone who wants one needs to let me know asap if you want to get into the first run. This conversion really kicks ass! It's like shooting a full auto .357 magnum. If anyone has info on the twist rate of the subgun barrels I would like to know. I am going to test 200 grain subsonic loads this weekend. If that load is properly stabilized it should make an excellent knockdown round for a 9mm suppressed Uzi. Knock them bowling pins over quietly!

Production has started on the 357 kit, I have an ad up on the Subguns.com NFA accessories board and one on the board here. If anyone is interested please contact me. I need to sell some of these to get seed money for the 40 S&W project. Everyone who buys the 357 kit will be notified about the 40 S&W and will get first crack at the new barrels. After that, its first come first serve. The number of kits wil be severely limited unless I can make some money to keep production running.
