45 SMG cans. Why no new development?

I am looking for a new 45 SMG can. I like short, fat and hearing safe dry. I was thinking about the Shaw MK45 but I'm not crazy about the billboard graphics. I'm not sure if it's hearing safe dry, Can't find any testing info. I saw the B&T modular.

It really looks like there has been no new developed in 45 can tech in awhile. Guess the market is too small.

I have a Curtis Tactical CT45K. I think it is about 7.5”, so maybe a tad longer than the Shaw .45 version. It is probably my favorite can and one of the only ones I can recall getting compliments on in terms of sound.

Regarding the Shaw graphics, I think they abandoned the big logo. My Shaw MK9k from a few years ago has a very small logo, and it was not by special request. Call and ask them if it is a concern. I am headed over there in the next week or so to pick up my recored .45 MK9, so I can ask then if I remember to.

For new stuff, there is a Dead Air Mojave in .45. It looks like more of a pistol can but is apparently a low back pressure offering. CAT is coming out with a .45 pistol can (Saigon Peacekeeper I think it’s called) and a bigger .45 can called the Bandito, though it’s not clear to me if it is meant for .45 caliber rifles or subguns. Based on the name I am guessing it is more for .45-70 and the like. I am not sure anyone is really using .45 SMGs these days, so it isn’t that surprising that there isn’t much development for them.

I am working on a 2.25" OD X 6.5" long fat can right now. I have been on the fence if I am going to bore it out for .45 vs 9mm. On one hand, I want to do .45 since I have 2 .45 SMG cans now but they are both long.....but I don't shoot .45 that much either....then my buddy that has a rare Gemtech MK45K says shooting 9mm through it sounds just as good as his 9mm MK9K's...

Strobro32---What are you planning on attaching a new 45 can onto? I like short and fat also but I think 45 has a big enough bore, too short, starts to contribute to not being as quiet. That being said I just recently went with a Bowers Versa 45. It is long but I cut a reising barrel back about 4 inches to shorten it somewhat. Also the weight contributes (on carbine length anyway) to better controlability.

the stock was chiseled very carefully to have as little clearance as possible. Several years ago I began internally coating all my cans with silicone oil. It keeps the carbon fouling from attaching to the internals and aids in cleaning greatly, it may also absorb some heat before the tube gets hot. I have not had the wood to get hot enough to smoke. If it ever does I have enough room to slide some sheet shim material between can and wood. after i saw this "doorbuster" version I was pretty sure I could get one cut down to dedicate a FA can to it

That's cool. I think vertical ribbed wood on the foregrip to match the barrel would be very nice.

my next add on will be a 2nd stock with a choate folder like in this pic this is kind of turning into my "poor man's" substitute for a suppressed greasegun, which I'll never afford to acquire

I was kicking around an idea a few years ago of how to do the Reising in a bullpup stock. Never really got the trigger bar mechanism down though.

RC lifepo4 battery, solenoid, and the trigger switch. For safety put like a grip safety switch on it wired in series with the main trigger. Both switches have to be activated to make it go pew pew pew.

That's been my experience as well.
