I would like to know if a hotter load is needed to operate the semi auto, it takes quite a lot of energy to compress recoil spring and cock the firing pin. My experience with target ammo is that they don't send the block back far enough to cock and or pick a new round. Any ideas out there.

I don't recall having failures from even cheap Russian import ammo like Tula.

Winchester white box has been known to be anemic and underpowered. And I also don't like CCI blazer aluminum cased ammo.

Freedom munitions also sucks. But it's because of their bad brass cases in their factory loads and unrelated directly to the uzi.

This sounds like what my Vector 45ACP UZI was doing .

what I did to fix it .

Put in a new sear

welded the end of the firing pin assembly to square it up where it meets the sear

make sure my top cover is with in specks to the bolt

after this I though it was weak ammo or a recoil spring

then when moving the bolt back and the bolt with the firing pin assembly traveling together they would stop when they hit the rubber recoil buffer and then go forward a small amount and catch the sear or not catch the sear .

I added a thin square I cut from another recoil buffer thick enough that when the bolt and firing pin assembly stop the sear is right there .
the sear is not trying to stop a speeding firing pin assembly .

No more problems

I’d be willing to bet it’s the gun and not the ammo. Maybe the top cover is too tight. I really like S&B 115 grain ball personally. All my 9mm guns like it.

With my semi auto Uzi and Suomi, the best solution I found was to make my own ammo with Power Pistol powder and 124g TMJ Speer bullets. Both run like a train on time.

My 320 runs all factory 115 and 124 grain FMJ’s 100%, but won’t feed HP’s. Never tried 147 grain loads of any type.
I also like Power Pistol for 9mm. Alliant’s minimum recommend load with 124 grain Precision Delta HP’s run great in every other 9mm I own. I’m gonna substitute 124 gr coated RN and see if it’s reliable in the 320.

Rem UMC is known weak. WWB used to be the go-to, but they are over-crimping the shit out of their rounds. The 9mm Q4318 NATO ammo has been good - Fed 115 and 124 has been fine as well.

I'm having the best feeding reliability running handloaded 124 gr RN's with 5.4 gr of Unique. I'm at about 1270 fps with a 10" bbl. Excellent cycling. Pretty stout load as I do observed flattened primers , but nothing serious.
