Guys -

Mounted an ACOG TA01NSN site to my FNC today. Went on Stormwerkz base (nice mount, BTW). At 50 yards, I am shooting about a foot LOW, and there is no more elevation left on the scope. Iron sights are zeroed in, plenty of windage/elevation left on those, plenty of windage left on the ACOG. All I can figure is that the rear of the mount doesn't seem to seat quite fully into the channel? With plenty of elevation/windage left on the iron sights, I cant see the rifle/bbl being tweaked or whatever. Any ideas? I have attached some pics...
:dunno

thanks

nate

My guess is that the sight height is part of the problem.

Very high sight height at close range = low hits.

A better zero is at 300m.

How do you get a cheek weld with that setup?

It should be pretty easy to carve out some aluminum stock in a v-shape to go under the rear of the mount (between bottom of mount, top of channel). This will bring the line of sight (front of scope) down, causing groups to move up.

Way too high of a fixed mount on that scope.

That scope is designed for a AR-15/M16.

It appears that the setup is not suitable.

Even if you could get more elv adjustment, the cheek weld is way off.

...I mentioned that in a previous thread, it's more of a 'chin weld' when used as-is. It can work; switch the stock out with an AR-type adapter and adjustable stock, or use a pad.

There is a tip when zeroing the ACOG to lightly tap the scope after changing the settings everytime on it to reset the mechanism inside. I brought my personal ACOG with me to Afghanistan, so I had to be on my own to zero it!

I've got an acog on mine and it's great. I highly recommend it.

Larue makes a mount that sits just a little lower on the rail. Not sure how much of a difference that will make for you, but mine zero's fine with it.

50 yards is way too close unless you are talking about the iron sight up top, which is pushing the limits of this setup.

Also, look into an adapter to use AR stocks. This will give you a cheek weld.

i have the ar adapter too but as it works great with cheekweld for acog like optics, you cannot use the iron sights with it....unless u have a small head....lol....i can't get my fat head down low enough with the ar stock to get a sight picture......but it looks kool...i used a ubr on mine too but went back to the solid fnc stock....jmo

DSA has dedicated Acog scopemount/cover for FAL,

http://www.dsarms.com/SA58-FAL-Extr...Modified-for-ACOGS-TA620A/productinfo/TA620A/

It should not be too hard for Stormwerkzs to make something similar. ie. Acog would mount directly to the scoperail WITHOUT adapter.

Last I checked the is a hole in Acog to use with ironsights am I wrong?

Btw I already have one of the Stormwerkz mount, but would buy another if it would take Acog directly without weaver/picatinny adapter.

If the scope was lower without the picatinny adapter would there be room to get a hex key in to lock the mount down?
